I am sure you dont have the correct BIOS for neo geo. Check the filesize is it 1,404 KB if not search for that size and it will work. The one that is 1,316KB will not work.

Here is a screen i just took from RetroArch running Baseball Stars 2 from NEO GEO.

Then in regards to Street Fighter 2 Alpha here is a screenshot i took of that running in RetroArch

FBA blows MAME out of the water on the PS3. cant compare PC to PS3.

I seriously think the issue is not correct BIOS on neogeo and not the correct ROMS from mame romset 0.145

I spent the entire day trying to get ONE game to work. That game being Garou: Mark of the Wolves. I tried 6 (SIX!) different versions of the Neo Geo BIOS and 5 different versions of the game and none of them worked. I even tried the Universal BIOS and not even that worked. Every time I tried to run the game without fail I got the message "Error while booting ROM." I don't know what to tell you other than it simply will not work for me at all.

And as for Street Fighter, is that Street Fighter ALPHA 2 or Street Fighter ZERO 2, because I know ZERO 2 works, but the US ALPHA 2 I have never been able to run on PS3. Also, of course FBA blows MAME out of the water on PS3, it's the only functional properly coded arcade emulator on PS3 period. It's running in a race by itself. I could say I'm the best stock car driver in the world, but if I'm driving the track by myself it won't mean anything.

Did you find the neogeo.zip BIOS that is 1,404 KB in size? (google search neogeo.zip 1,404 KB)

and make sure those roms as i said are from MAME 0.145 romset

Yes it is Street Fighter 2 Alpha. (sf2a.zip)

See i believe the issue you are having there you dont have the EURO version (sf2a.zip) with it. That is around a 13MB file where as the US is around a 1 MB file. US will not work at all without the "parent rom" which is sf2a.zip. Without that rom it will not work at all. To use the US version both have to be in the same folder and you boot from the US rom. (that is standard thing in all MAME / FBA emulators no matter what platform they are on)


MAME romset 0.145 as well there.

I don't know if you think I'm stupid or what. Yes I googled that BIOS, yes I have the latest romsets, yes I have the parent rom for Alpha 2, no it didn't work.

I dont think your stupid but in the last year i have had alot of user asking for help . where most times it just something they don;t pay attention to or a small detail.. I dont know if you know or not and thats what i am trying to figure out. So dont take it personally. I am just trying to help you out. As i dont know if you know so if repeat myself on anything that is why. Alot of people i have to repeat. even if they say they know. Sorry but there are user out there like that not saying you are one of those.

What CFW are you on?

You used the PKG in this thread?

What are the file sizes of the roms you mentioned? (just so we can troubleshoot this better)
