________________________________________ Recommended Imame4all (0.37b5) This is an unreleased (in official editions) port of MAME 0.37b5 for RetroArch that was scrapped due to performance issue. Many bugs are present and will NOT be FIXED A better MAME port is currently in development. However Mortal Kombat II, III & NBA HangTime Extreme do play fairly well. but many other titles do not play at all. ---- Requires MAME romset 0.37b5 PS3-MAME (Preview 0.142) Will not play high memory titles, only simple games without a high memory demand. Games like MK series and many others will not play. ----Requires MAME Romset .0.142

Man, RetroArch is suggested for like 90% of these, but it's completely unusable for me. Guess I'll just have to wait for more emulators to come.

RetroArch is recommended because no other emulators come close to the performance of those systems.

What is unusable? explain ...

Also what CFW are you? and what pkg did you use.

I know the PKGs out for some RetroArch installations are giving many users errors. its seems random with more info i can help. I have help some users get it working.

Very strange issue for me....running latest Rebug 4.21 on PS3 slim.

Installed RetroArch_[PS3-CEX-3.41-4.21]_[0.9.7]_[mM]_[20121020] over my previously working RetroArch for Kmeaw 3.55.

When I load a rom, NES for example via Mulitman, it loads fine. I can press R3 to bring up the RetroArch in-game menu, load a different NES rom, etc. However when attempting to run RetroArch by itself via the XMB it bumps back to the XMB. Attempting to change the retro-core within the in-game menu results in a black screen as well.....

Anyone know what may be wrong? I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times as well as deleting the SNES1000 folder manually and reinstalling. I've also tried resigning the EBOOT via True Ancestor 1.4 with no luck.

Delete the installation again, and try the PKG above for RetroArch. please let me know the results.

I am on rebug and had no issues however i haven't tried with booting from multiMAN much yet.

Always Delete old installation when installing new ones. Never install them over each other.

I installed the newer .pkg and it works finally, but FBA still has the same compatibility issues it's always had for me (Street Fighter Alpha 2 doesn't load, NOTHING Neo Geo works, etc.). Hopefully the FBA core gets worked on a little more, or better yet just scrap it and port MAME properly because FBA sucks. It's cool that there's an arcade emulator at all, but I have not ever had good experiences with FBA, if it wasn't bundled with GGPO I'd never touch it ever.

Are you using the correct romset. Use MAME 0.145 romset for FBA. (yes the Mame romset) older roms will not work .

neogeo needs the bios from that romset as well. (neogeo.zip)

FBA doesnt suck at all. just needs the proper romset, Much better then any older ps3 port of FBA by a long shot.

The official FBA team has adopted the libretro concept so it doesn't get much better..


There will be a new MAME port in the near future. Its being worked on now.

I'm familiar with arcade emulators, I'm aware of NeoGeo's Bios, I have it, and not on PC or PS3 have I ever preferred FBA to MAME. It was just never as capable or ran as well as MAME did. If I don't have the latest roms, and I don't know why I wouldn't, then I have no idea where the "new" roms are. I'm not expecting you to tell me where they are or anything, anti piracy and all that, just that I'll look into it, but doubt anything will change.

I am sure you dont have the correct BIOS for neo geo. Check the filesize is it 1,404 KB if not search for that size and it will work. The one that is 1,316KB will not work.

FBA blows MAME out of the water on the PS3. cant compare PC to PS3.

I seriously think the issue is not correct BIOS on neogeo and not the correct ROMS from mame romset 0.145
