    Added some pics :

    - Original FFXI DVD
    - FFXII from HDD with patchs (video lng)

I notice something good, on SCPH-10000 (or external PCMCIA drives, I don't know...) I have no shuttering on FMV when the game run from HDD without patch.

I can't answer you why it gives you a "windowed" effect if you ran it off your external HDD... but I can probably explain to you why you don't get any stuttering.

If you installed the game to the HDD, then it won't stutter (Sony makes *bug-free* drivers ).
If you used Open PS2 Loader (It's the only PS2 game loader I know that has support for the external PCMCIA HDD unit), it has got a better system than HDloader to prevent the game from causing stuttering.

    Kermit/DBGCore also features this, afaik.
Other than that, it is also possible to start games through the HOSDSYS (HD-Update for Sonys OSDSYS) directly, which probably includes those PS2s which have a PCMCIA-Slot, instead of an 'ExpansionBay'.
