What's The Best DVD To Use When Backing Up PS2 Games?

I have a SCHP 70012 model with Swapmagic v3.08 (US Version), and I have all the sensors on my PS2 blocked. So far I have tried VERBATIM DVD+R, VERBATIM DVD-R, FUJIFILM DVD-R, MEMOREX DVD+R, and PHILIPS DVD-R. I used Alcohol 120% and DVD decrypter for each one and I'm almost positive I burnt them correctly. The two that worked were MEMOREX DVD+R, AND PHILIPS DVD-R, but they were really really slow to boot up and took 5 minutes to load through every cut scene. Given the information above, do you think my ps2 is compatible for playing back up PS2 games smoothly, and should I search for more DVDs with other brands to use, or should I return it for my money back? If you have any advice on what disc I should use, or what I can do to improve the performance of my back up games it would help a lot since I am a noob to this stuff. Thanks in advance.

At least to me sounds like either your swap magic disk problem or you laser is going clean the eye if you know how
VERBATIM DVD-R is one of the best for PS2 so if they are burned right should work and sounds like right software for burning so my guess is
will you PS2 run dual layer DVD PS2 games if not either out of alinement or dirty or possible going bad laser

It depends as much on the burner as it does the disc. I've recently been using Sony DVD-R discs burned in my HP laptop's internal drive and they run fine on my 39001, my 75001, and my girlfriend's 75001 (of the latter two, hers is more iffy than mine, it won't read dual-layer discs of any sort). This is also true for an older HP desktop I have sitting around here, and two previous HP laptops. I also have an external Memorex DVD burner which I have yet to successfully burn a PS2 game with, regardless of media. In the various HP drives, I've also used several brands of disc, including a few Memorex, and a few "house brand" discs from Office Depot back in 2007/8. I've always preferred DVD-R over DVD+R, I've gotten more consistent results with them. I also haven't noticed any speed issues on any of these PS2s, although I don't use a ton of burnt discs as I prefer the HDD, but I've backed up several of my girlfriend's discs for her and she hasn't noticed any problems either.
