Using USB ports......

I have been looking around and I have seen all these things about pen-drive compatibility and I would like to know the following:

1. What programs can use the USB for transfering any files?
2. Can it be any files, not just JPEGs and MP3s?
3. Where can I find the program?
4. Can Gameshark V5 really use ANY USB devices and is there a way to get it to transfer ELFs and not only music?


I have a USB to USB cable called the Shrakport and I was hoping there was a way to hack that too, so I can send elfs from my PC to my PS2 . I can only send saves right now.

I have to agree, it's not clear as to what pen drive and how to make pen drives work.

* What format should the pen drive disk system be?
* How to transfer files from ps2 to pen drive + vise versa?
* How to make a usb to usb from ps2 to pc work?

Please could someone give us some straight up fac's about it, It is the way to go for testing homebrew appz, no need to burn all them cd-r's if a prog doesnt work right first time.

I was having the same problems.... The only way I have gotten my flashdrive to work at all is with PS2OS 03. Go to ps2os tools, File Manager press X, Press R1 and highlight mass:USB PEN and press X, nothing will show up, so press L2 to back out to the main menu, then hit X on File MGR again, that's when it shows all the files on my flashdrive, I can then copy any file I want from my flashdrive to my MC or HDD.

I have also noticed that every usb that reposts as MASS storage usb device in PC worked flawlessly in ps2.Every other NOT

2. Yes.
3. Search the newz forums for LaunchELF.

* I'm not sure but I think it is FAT32.
* Use the FileBrowse function of LaunchELF v3.33.
* I have read about it, but I was not interested in it so the only thing I remeber was that there were differents cables that come with Shrakport and only one was the one that have the chip that was compatible with the program that they were using. I think the information about it is in PS2DEV.

I have a USB CD-ROM drive, a 7 in 1 card reader and a mp3 player, I am hoping these devices works.

I really don't know if the USB CD-ROM Drive would work, but I have a mp3 player and a HDD in an external enclosore thats work fine with LaunchELF (I didn't work with AR MAx EVO) and as minos19 said if the card reader (or other devices) shows as MASS storage usb device in a PC it should work. I don't have a USB CD-ROM Drive so I can't try it maybe you can try and let us know (I think it would not work).

I've tried with my USB ZIP-drive (100), but haven't had any success.

I have the Codebreaker 8.0, AR MAX, Launch Elf, PS2OS... these are all I can think of at the moment...

CB and AR support storing gamesaves, AR supports MP3, ELF, and JPG for media player...

Launch Elf will store and transfer almost anything.... I've had problems with .BIN files (for my EMUs)

PS2OS I haven't used much just expierimented with it....

Heard (on here I think) that some old USB HDDs can be read from some progs... and some other USB Devices... cameras, MP3 players (for storage only)... you know I might try a 6-in-1 media reader ... might even stick it in my design...
