Jesus! You're crazy, man! ... WOW![]()
Excellent news. This is so excllent. The Amiga has so much software, in fact, the Amiga has lots of freeware & shareware software so no-one will get bored with an Amiga Emu.
I want to give thanks to Ole for bringing Amiga emulation to PS2 & for his work on porting ScummVM to PS2.
I want to mention to people who want to run the Amiga Emu, the Amiga Kickstart roms which are required to make UAE run can't be downloaded from the NET because Amiga, INC doesn't allow it. If you need the Kickstart roms, you will have to purchase the licensed Amiga collection called Amiga Forever which comes with the Kickstart roms licensed by Amiga, INC.
If anyone wants some Amiga progs to test out, goto http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.ph...pic=65246&st=0 , this is a thread which contains commerical/shareware games which have been re-released as freeware by the authors of the software.
Cinemaware allows for their old games to be downloaded. Goto http://www.cinemaware.com/vault.asp?vault=games & you can download Cinemaware's old Amiga games but you have to register then login to be able to download their old games.
I just read the documentation of this UAE port & before you start downloading Amiga progs, understand this, this port only does this right now:
Features:
- 68000 processor core only (no 68020)
- OCS, ECS chipset (no AGA)
- up to 1MB of chip memory (the emu is memory hungry)
- lo-res (320x256) and mid-res (640x256) graphics resolutions in 16bit depth
- joystick1 and mouse emulation
Lacks:
- gui
- switching of the disk file
- sound (no sound at the moment, sorry)
- keyboard emulation
Basically put, right now this means that you can't use Amiga progs which use the 68020, you can't run AGA games, you can't run progs which use more than 1 MB of chip memory. I think that switching of the disc file means that right now, you can't run progs which use mutiple discs. So if you download an Amiga game & it has more than one disc, you won't be able to run it.
Even with these limitations right now, you will be able to play the old Amiga games but you won't be able to play the games which came latter in the Amiga's life span, this might change as the emu matures.
awesome!
thank you really much, can't wait to try this out![]()
(there has been some sort of emulation madness lately, me like it!)

thanksssss ole that a really good work, i messed with it from when it got released
anyway for you guys to know it supports up to two (2) discks just do this on the uae.cfg
nr_floppies=2
floppy0=mass:/disc1.adf
floppy1=mass:/disc2.adf
the emulator is sloow by lan just use mass it's much more faster
This is amazing! Congrats to you guys for this awesome breakthrough.![]()
Holy moly!~
yeah great stuff!
wouldnt it be great if we could run os3.1 on our ps2's.
that would make my dreams come true.
allthough it is a big project. good luck to you. and you only have 32mb to play with.......
you can run iti used it just an hour ago
also 1.3
If anyone wants some more Amiga games, you can get freeware text adventure games for Amiga at :
http://www.ifarchive.org/indexes/if-...mesXamiga.html
You can also get freeware, shareware & demos of commerical Amiga games at the Aminet archive located at:
http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/aminet/
The Amiga software one the sites above are not disc images, they are pure Amiga programs & you have to convert them to ADF (Amiga Disc Format) to be able to run them on Amiga emu's. Here is a tutorial (for comps runnning Windows) on how to do it:
First of all, download ADF Opus from http://adfopus.sourceforge.net/
Now, Amiga progs are stored on the NET using a compression called LHA. LHA is the compression format for Amiga. Files compressed with LHA will have the file extensions of .lzh or .lha. You will need to download a decompressor which supports LHA, I suggest downloading UltimateZip 2.7.1 from http://www.ultimatezip.com/download.htm
These 2 progs are needed, ADF Opus is needed to create ADF files & Ultimatezip 2.7.1 is needed to decompress LHA files.
For this tutorial, I am going to use the file called adv350.lha which I downloaded from http://www.ifarchive.org/indexes/if-...mesXamiga.html (adv350.lha is a version of the text adventure game called original 350 points version of Colossal Cave by). Ultimatezip must be installed before you go any furthur.
Goto the directory where you have adv350.lhz & right click on it & select extract to & Ultimatezip will load up & select the directory where you want to install the files & click on extract.
Now, install Adf Opus. Load up Adf Opus & goto the file menu & select new. A window will load up & enter the name you want for the ADF file in the window. Now in the label section enter what you want the label to say. Next click on the option near the bottom which says open after creating & then click on create. This will open up the ADF file which you have just created.
Now, goto the directory where you have extracted adv350.lha & drag the files into your ADF window & then close down your ADF window. ADF Opus will then save your ADF file.
This tutorial works for all files, just replace adv350.lha with the name of the .lha/.lzh files you download from the sites above.
I want someone to test out this tutorial for me & see if it works then load up the created ADF file in the emu to see if it works. ADF Opus also creates high density ADF files. ADF files have a disc space of 880KB since this is the file size of the Amiga Floppy discs. High Density ADF files have a file size of 1.76 MB.
The emu needs to be able to load more than 2 discs. Many Amiga progs use more than 2 discs. For example, the Amiga game called It Came From The Desert which can be downloaded from Cinemaware's website, comes on 3 ADF discs which means that it won't be able to run on the emu until support is added to load more than 2 discs.Originally Posted by Stefy2
