I'm gonna try and build a micro-ATX computer inside a PS2. Then I can stand it on its side and make it pretty :">

I'd like to add that creating a PC Emulator for PS2 just to play emulators is a VERY bad idea because you will be having twice the emulation, you will be limited by the speed of the PC emulator plus the speed of the emulator which you are playing on the PC emulator.

You're better off by learning how to program the PS2 & then port the emulators which you want because this way, you can try to get as much speed out of the PS2 for the emulator.

Porting DOSBOX to the PS2 to play DOS games is a great idea.

Someone was working on the idea of creating an Intel X86 emulator for PS2 but he abandoned the project about 3 yrs ago. The person's homepage is at http://ps2pc.parodius.com/ & the source/Win32 Binaries are at http://ps2pc.parodius.com/downloads.html .

Is there any possibility of upgrading either the ram or the cpu on a ps2...I think if the ram alone was able to be upgraded the hanging on some of the games would go away...
v4 ps2 unmodded for the kids barely alive (rarely plays any games)
v7 ps2 mc exploit w/40gb hdd freshly installed
Soon hopefully to add an external 30gb drive

The games are designed to use the specific specs the PS2 has. Even if we could upgrade it, the games aren't programmed to take advantage of that extra muscle, so it would be pointless unless some homebrew software took advantage of it somehow. Some people managed to upgrade their XBox's CPU and RAM, but I'm not sure there is any real point in it.
