Tkeely's "Race for $500" challenge
Tkeely's "Race for $500" challenge –
I'm hosting this contest in hopes it will jumpstart the sagging PS2 homebrew community...
For those who are also members of those *other* forums, you may remember a similar challenge I hosted some time ago...but this time the goal is slightly different.
Like many others out there, I've always been one of those dellusional fellas who have hoped that a swapless solution might one day grace (statistically) the world's favourite console...The goal is simple: develop a program that would somehow (at least temporarily) reflash the bios of the PS2 to enable swapless, modless play of PS2 backups.
The first team to provide ME (as well as the rest of the PS2 gaming community) with proof of a working program that accomplishes the above-mentioned will receive a grand-prize of a whopping $500 dollars, plus go down in history as the greatest home development team in history. The contest will last for 1 year. I myself must verify that the program does indeed work (don't wanna get gypped out of 500 smackers).
Now, go for the gold team(s)!
please upload all entrees to this thread and email me them, as well, as attachment files:
Please tell me this is a joke If not, let me tell you what is wrong with your "contest":
1) The chip which holds the PS2 bios is NOT flashable, it is READ ONLY.
2) In order accomplish non-swap booting of un-licensed media, both the BIOS and CDVD bus must be patched. Patching the BIOS alone wont do you any good at all. This means that you will need to modify your console (ie: solder some wires).
3) If this WAS possible, dont you think that the person who developed such an application would sell it for some real money, and not give away something like this for a puny $500?
haha thanks for clearing this up sjeep
