Thoughts on Daedalus N64 Emulator on PS2
Sorry if this isn't the best place to post this, but I thought it was. Feel free to move it to wherever you feel is best.
Anyways, you may know of DaedalusX64, the N64 emulator for PSP. Recently it has gotten very fast emulation speeds and very little graphical glitches. I believe that it is possible for the PS2 to emulate N64. The PSP's CPU clock speed is 333MHz. Comparing to the PS2's EE clock speed of 299MHz, the PS2 falls short of clock speed. Well, looking at DaedalusX64 (ported from Windows version of Daedalus), the clock speed when emulating is 279MHz, underclocked to save battery. Clock speed isn't everything in emulation I know, but the EE is better in that area.
Daedalus has also gotten ported to Dreamcast (DaedalusDC), although the speed isn't very good at all, it still exists. I don't know much about the EE's power so I can't really compare it to anything... But I know ffgriever made a great PS1 emulator for it :)
The problem is: We do not have many devs who are interested in the PS2, let alone a N64 emulator for it. I'm sure it is possible, even developers on DaedalusX64 say it is, but there is just no one to make it. That is why I made this, does anyone think they can give it a shot? If anyone does want to port it and has trouble, they can always contact Salv-E or Corn at the DaedalusX64 forums (they are really nice like the PS2 devs :) )
