Application to emulate USB/FW harddisk in PS2

I dont understand. Do you mean...
(A) - Make computers see the ps2's hdd through a usb and/or firewire connection
(B) - Make the ps2 see a computer's hdd through usb and/or firewire connection
I think you mean A, but either way, I see no versatility other than file storage. I mean, it would be useful to transfer mp3s to a partition, but first we need a stable mp3 player capable of reading from any selected partition.
What barf is trying to say is that there should be support for external USB HDD's on the PS2. If this would happen, it means that people could use external USB HDD's & connect it to any PS2 w/out the limitations of the PS2 HDD utilities has & that is that the offical Sony PS2 HDD utility formats the HDD & makes it keeps a track of your PS2 electronic serial number which means that you can't use your HDD in another PS2 once it has been formatted. To make it work on another PS2, you have to format the HDD.Originally Posted by ToN_reborn
Oh ok, then I got both guesses wrong.
What you should ask for however, is not an application, but a module that any programmer cna put into their application.
Good suggestion.
With the upcoming remodel of the PS2 (aka PS2two), that'd be a brilliant idea...the only issue at this point is that, besides someone coding the application, the PS2 and PStwo utilize USB 1.1 ports, which are hellishly slow...although it'd be nice to continue using PS2OS and the like....
(B) is already started by the PS2OS people, PS2OS can suppposedly see devices up to 2TB.
What I mean is (A)
ive been wasting so much cdr. how bout a new app using pendrive to install.
great idea. when are you going to start on it instead of relying on others. There are pleny of docs on ps2dev that will help.Originally Posted by barf
I'm looking into it, but I'm not good enough to do it all by myself.
I'm collecting info on the different pieces that has to be connected however.
older hard disc drives can be used on the ps2 using a usb enclosure as a pen drive. however his more than likely will never be a replacement for things such as hdloader.
