Speccy Emu –
Does PS2 Dreamspec have a user defined game database?
In other words can I burn a compilation of the games I want?
If not is there another Sinclair Spectrum Emu for PS2 in the works?
Yeas, you can burn whatever Spectrum games you like on to the disc, so long as they are in .SNA format.
The only real pain, is creating the controller config files for each one.
When I burned it, I first loaded the games into a PC Spectrum Emulator, configured the controls for the game, then re-saved it. This way I could use very similar, if not identical config files. (this cut down on a hell of a lot of work!)
Remember to bear in mind that some games will just not be playable due to the lack of buttons on the PS2 controller. i.e. Elite, Fighter Pilot, and so on...
Great news but...How did you burn it? the versions over dreamspec are all in iso or bin/cue? is there a way to alter the iso or to revert it to files?
Hehe, you need a utility called ISOBUSTER, which allows you to extract files from an ISO and do what you like with them.
ISOBUSTER is available here:
Now you can muck about with it as much as you like.
BEWARE though!
I use a Messiah No-Swap chip, which allows me to burn what the hell I like, with the files in any order, so...
If you are using a swap/knife trick method, or a different kind of Modchip that reqires use of Action Replay, you will need to burn the files accordingly. I dont know exactly which order they go, or anything like that but the information is available from other places.
I think ISOBUSTER may allow you to actually add files to an ISO (although Im not 100% sure about this), but if it does, you must also be wary that the resulting ISO, may not be Knife/AR swap method compatible.
Oh, and ISO files can be burned using Nero 5.5
All the best man.
The easiest way is to use a MOD chip... or I simply wouldnt try... since you have to modify the GAMES.TXT file with paths etc...
However... making a disk is simple.. get all the files+directorys needed(remeber logos etc.), then put all you SNA files and .TXT files with them. Make a new GAMES.TXT file, pointing to all the files+paths. Then use Nero to burn a new disk using these options.
- ISO9660 level 1 filesystem
- ISO9660 character set
- Joliet DISABLED
- ISO9660 relaxations DISABLED
This is how I burn disk... there is a tool around to modify ISO's to work on knife+swap tricks
