    Hello,

    i wonder if there is a version of SNES-Station and PGEN which is not searching for the CD-Rom at start up.
    I'm asking this, because i build in a HDD into a slim PS2 and just connected it internal to the second USB port.
    But to do so i had to remove the CD drive completely and now SNES-Station and PGEN did not boot any more.

    Is there a solution for this problem?
    Any ideas?

    I think that it's not that simple. By removing the optical drive, the console will cause the software to freeze up on the newer consoles (>v9) if certain functions related to the CD/DVD are called. I don't remember, but I think that sceCdInit() is one of them... which makes most software broken by you removing the CD/DVD drive.

    From what I remember, the OSD calls sceCdInit() with the NOCHECK option, so that's probably why it might still work.

    @amp2006
    yup, that's what i tried first, but no use

    @SP193
    so, you mean that the NOCHECK option is set automatically by default when i bootup with FMCB?
    By the way, i tried it with the Unofficial FMCB from you (but not the latest version).
    What i can tell so far is:
    --FMCB boots up
    --SMS starts and recognizes USB devices
    --PS2ESDL starts
    --OPL starts
    I didn't try any games yet, will do this after i upgraded FMCB to your latest version.
    After some tests i figured, that really everything is needed to start SNES-Station.
    All the connectors from the drive are needed and in addition the micro-switch on the laser has to go on and off once during start.

    Is it possible to have some resistent software soulution in memory which can do the trick somehow (Like OPL with the in game reset)?
    Or may be i take a good look into the hardware requirements to trick the motherboard itself with some resistors and capacitors on the right place.

    Thanks anyways

    No. I'm saying that the OSD will boot, but I didn't say that anything else would. The NOCHECK value tells sceCdInit() to not wait for the drive to be ready.

    This should be normal. OPL and PS2ESDL do not access the CD/DVD drive, but I am not sure about SMS.

    That's why you should not remove the drive. Or at least just retain those parts there.
