SCPH-10190 PCMCIA network adaptor with cross-cable issues –
As I had stated on the uLaunchELF thread before, the SCPH-10000 console and SCPH-10190 network adaptor I have have issues with homebrew software.
When I try to connect the console to my laptop computer with PS2LINK, the LINK and ACT LEDs on the Network Adaptor would keep blinking, and no link would be established.
Sometimes the link would get established if I waited for about a minute.
Later on, I found out that the issue only occurred if I was to connect the console to my computer with a crossover cable, and there would be no problems if I was to connect the console directly to my router with a LAN patch cable (Aka "straight" cable).
Does anyone know whether this is a hardware limitation, or if this is a known software bug?
This problem does not exist with my SCPH-39006 or SCPH-77006 consoles.
Now I think that the issue lies between the protocol stack and the SMAP driver, but I don't really have the means to debug this because PS2LINK is only partially working, even when connected directly to my network.
(The bug in the 10K's kernel is responsible for that problem).
I don't have any online games, so I cannot verify whether this issue applies for the Sony drivers too.
EDIT: I tried replacing the SMAP driver with the Sony "equivalent", but it seems like more work needs to be done before the Sony drivers will even work with homebrew.
