Running games from USB drive
Running games from USB drive –
I am thinking to install free Mcboot to play backup games. But I was wondering if it is theoretically possible to run games from a usb stick once you have free Mcboot installed. I know the PS2 used USB 1.1 which is pretty slow, can a game run on normal speed from a USB stick compared to the DVD drive?
Check out Open PS2 Loader, it works with USB, HDD and SMB
There are a few big threads about it in the PS2 forums with a bunch of useful information
yes you can from either a pendrive or a USB HDD. as the previous reply states you can use OPL or as an alternative PS2ESDL to run the games from USB. FMV ( video) will stutter but most gameplay should be ok.... there are other limits as well. the USB has to be formated to FAT32 and as a consequence of this file system ISO's over 4Gb have to be installed with USBUTIL ...... not an expert on USB gaming as i never use it, but read the threads in the OPL and PS2ESDL forums for more info....
