    Hello fellow PS2 developers!

I've just released the 7th beta for Rockbot , a game much like Megaman that is multiplatform, made using C/SDL. This is the last beta for version 0.1, meaning it is fully playable, even if it does have a series of bugs.
In this version, we fixed a lot of bugs in the PS2 port. I hope you guys enjoy and help reporting bugs or contributing with code, graphics, music, sounds or ideas.

More information can be found here: Rockbot « sidescroller game engine

Amazing work, however I've just tried the windows version xD

But I'm sure the ps2 one is as good as it ^^

Well, do you think after you finish it you could reuse the engine to create another game, with bigger chars?

and a bit faster too? I don't like the jump, is a bit slow, rs

Oh, and please make a nice ending xD

Well, the idea is that almost everything will be defined in the editor, so yes, you could make a 16-bits like game also. But, please notice that this is for 1.0 version, we are still in 0.1.. so there is a lot of work to do.

The jump probally is slow bacause you playied with Rockbot, right? The two characters have different jump lenght, and the jump gravity is the same, to a longer jump takes more time, betabot have a shorter and faster jump. I plan to change the gravity to that both jumps take the same time, in future versions.

For now, I'm planning 0.2 version (need to put most of the logic that is in the game to the editor) and fixing bugs in 0.1, but do not worry, it will take a while, but I'll keep working on this.

I guess we will still see some nice apps for our old lady, within the next years.

Please keep working on this project.
Alot begginners could re-use it for platform-indipendent 2D-Game-Creation I guess.

Hum, strange, what makes you tell it is incompatible?

It should run without problem from a USB hd, pendrive or from the memory card - no support for old PS2 HDs planned.

There are some specific problems on the PS2 version (like long being the same as a regular int), but it runs fine lately, even if I'm not testing on it on a regular basis.

I got a BSOD after launching Rockbot. But it works fine on my SCPH-77006 console.

    I've sent you a PM.
The ROM of older consoles are missing critical files that are used in your game.

I have released version 0.1 release candidate 1.
While the levels needs some editing, mostly adding NPCs, it should be playiable.

I'll try to make it work with older PS2 consoles in the RC2 - it will be a bit hard, ebcause some PS2 modules/IPX are hard to find, and I do not have a older console to test, so any help is welcome

You have my full support for that.
If you need any IOP modules, I can try to find them for you.
If you need help on testing, debugging or programming, I could probably help you too.

My exams are ending soon. If I can find some time after that - maybe I'll even finish this job of making Rockbot compatible with the SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000 consoles for you.
