PS2Mame help please with CD boot

I am having major problems writing out a CD correctly.
I tried the ten easy steps with CDgenPS2, but that comes up with
2 errors, namely the 4096 file limit (hey, someone posted that you
can have unlimited? unzipped files --- but once you start unzipping,
4096 [in total] gets to be filled rather quickly].
Also it didn't like the ROMDIR file in ROMS.

Anyway I ended up using Nero, burning a CD as per the Genesis and
SNES emulators, which work fine for me.
With PS2Mame, I just get the text screen, then a black blank screen with
blue surround - with nothing working.
Can anyone point out what I am doing wrong? Should I then stick within
the 4096 file limit, and everything should work? If that is the case, I will
do that... otherwise I don't want to go to all the bother and find I get
exactly the same result?

It would be rather nice if PS2Mame was further developed such that it
would get faster and faster/etc... but I guess that's highly unlikely because
of the amount of work involved in doing so.
It looks like the XBOX is the better buy after all, especially if you're into emulators a lot.

Hi i will tell my own experience doing the Ps2Mame CD, i tried about 6 times and also burnt 6 cds, doing the ten easy steps for burning ps2mame, in fact the first cds were not even recognised by the ps2 as ps2 discs.

-First of all be in mind that the files you have to drag over the cdgenps2v2 right window are the CONTENT of the PS2N-PS2MaMe drawer and not the drawer itself

-Second remember to set the Lba to 12231 in system.cfg

-Third put some few games in the ROM drawer (4 or 5) and check that they are for this version looking at the working gamelist. this item is very important ,3 cds i burnt didn`t work without apparent reason, and the reason was that if you put a game mame does not support you get a black screen.
later you can try putting more games, but 1st have mame working.

-Four, remember and re-check the gamelist.txt is ok, do it with notepad.

-Five Save the image in bin-cue not iso, that gave me a lot of trouble.

-Six burn with nero, by double clicking the image not by opening nero and loading the file , check at the info label that mode is 2 and also in check you burn it in disc mode and 4x.

ok, i expect this works for you too, when you put the disc in the Ps2 it will put a PS2newz.net banner till mame loads.

Is there a MAME compatibility list for PS2MAME?

My current game list is here if it helps (a bit worried about cruisin USA, even though my version was like 4MB instead of the 22MB USA version, and I dunno if it supports NEOGEO BIOS roms on PS2...)

I would do it myself, but I'm low on CDs (have 2 or 3 left)... and it doesn't support DVDs...
