PS2 & homebrew - Where to begin?
PS2 & homebrew - Where to begin? –

Hi!
Just 15 minutes ago my PS2 with FMCB arrived.
I have got those things installed as I got the console:
FMCB
uLaunchELF
ESR
HD Loader
Simple Media System
Can you explain me the homebrews I got installed and which else are recommended, incl. emulators?
How do I install additional homebrews? With uLaunchELF? Can I move the files with uLELF from an USB-stick or microSD card (with usb adapter) to the memory card?
How may I play backups of my games with the PS2? I heard about ESR patcher, but do I need to patch the games at my PC or at the PS2?
If patching happens at the pc, which version do I need then?
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f164/esr-public-beta-58441/ (ESR - public beta)
I also found this video just now:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQGX1KQ5VRk"]YouTube - ‪How To Patch ps2 Games For Free McBoot‬‏[/ame]
well, I have the PAL console version, do I have to consider something then?
I just made the "happy experience" in FF VIII an hour ago when one of the full motion videos wasn't going to load completly :/
Any beginner tutorials here to read?
Thanks in advance!

Can you explain me the homebrews I got installed...
FMCB = FreeMcBOOT (The memory-card-mod)
uLaunchELF (uLE) = Filebrowser
ESR = Game-starter (when you patch a game with ESR then its till its a video-file)
HD Loader = Loader for HDD (when you have connect a HDD to a FAT PS2 with Networkadapter, or to some slim with an Bundle)
Simple Media System = Media Player
How do I install additional homebrews? With uLaunchELF?
you dont must "install", just copy it with uLE and then make entries in FMCB if you want
OR you leave it in USB to save memory on the memory-card
Can I move the files with uLELF from an USB-stick or microSD card (with usb adapter) to the memory card?
YES, if your USB is compatible with your PS2 (some USB-stick make problems)
How may I play backups of my games with the PS2?
with ESR-patch (CD&DVD), with USB-Stick or USB-HDD (OPL is the word or USB-Advance or PS2ESDL), with internal HDD (HD-Loader), and with SMB (Samba, folder-sharing over PC, therefor is OPL again the word)
I heard about ESR patcher, but do I need to patch the games at my PC or at the PS2?
If patching happens at the pc, which version do I need then?
you must patch the GAME-image on your PC before you BURN it on CD or DVD ! ! !
you need this.........

"then make entries in FMCB if you want"
How do I do that?
Any important homebrews, emulators and so on which are recommended to install?

so......
FMCB Configurator Guide
recommended are those homebrews you need. And i dont know what you need or what do you want to do with your PS2.
The only one is "PS2PSXe" (psx-emu for PS2, to play psx-backups with image-support), but that is in beta-phase, so no sound supported and not all games work....
