Problem with save states in Snes/Pgen

(Well this is my 1st time posting so i dont know if im in the correct forum)

I been using snes station (with usb support) for some time and it worked flawlessly as far as save games is concerned, but sudenly i cant make save states without the emulator freezing, also i cant even save basic configurations without the emulator freezing forever. Its very strange because everything was fine a few hours before and i havent change anything on my memory card or usb drive.:confused:



My second problem is with pgen (usb support) and is almost the same as with snes i can make regular save states fine but now they take a lot of time or the emu freezes. Also i cant make the save that its stored on the memory card(not a single time worked), all i get is a corrupted data that i cant delete from the card. :( (how can i delete it?:cry:

I run both emu from the MC and the roms from a usb drive.
If any aditional info is needed just ask.

Are you really sure that nothing changed ?
I mean, those save operations you mention, for savestates and configurations, must at least have attempted to write some files somewhere...

It is possible that some such save attempt caused some corruption, which in turn caused additional errors.

I'm not sure how these emus do their saving, in the sense of what gets stored on memory cards or what gets stored on the USB drive. But once you have any kind of corruption on a drive that contains programs, you have to start doubting the integrity of those programs.

Deleting corrupted files and folders may be possible using uLaunchELF (aka: uLE) even when the Sony Browser refuses to touch them. But it is not certain that this will eliminate all problems, as there may be other forms of corruption than a damaged file which can be removed.

This means that both of the emu programs are suspect and should no longer be used, until the problem has been resolved and you have stored fresh copies of those emus on the MC (I assume that you do have backups stored on some PC media).

The best way to resolve cases of corrupted media is to rescue any unique files that you can from them (such as long-played gamesaves of big RPGs etc) by copying them to other media using uLE and then reformat the card so you can install everything anew. Specialized homebrew programs such as 'MC Killer' and 'MC Annihilator' can be used to format your card. They differ slightly in compatibility to non-standard cards, so if you have a non-Sony card and one such utility fails for you, then try another until you find one that does work.

But I realize that any reformatting can be both difficult and nervous to do if you don't have any other memory cards, and especially if you use the MC for a softmod boot system like FMCB.

Those are some things I still don't know about your setup, and which you should mention in a future post.

Could it be that your memory card is full? Use uLE for checking your savestates on your memory card. Also you can use your HDD (if any) with PGEN, so saving your savestates on your HDD is much better. You can also copy your PGEN savestates from your memory card to your HDD. ;)

A little late (im to busy these days) but here's my current setup.

- Slim PS2 SCPH- 77001 (Silver)
- uLE V 4.38
- FMCB 1.6
- SwapMagic 3.8 (To install FMCB to memory cards)
- Max Memory 32Mb (7 Mb free)
- Pgen/Snes (the ones that have USB support)

I managed to backup my saves to a usb drive and the format the card to get rid of the corrupted data. Now my Snes saves works again fine but still i cant save good with pgen. Maybe the emulator have bugs that i dont know.:chinscrat
