Please help with PS2VICE
Hello guys, I was just wondering if someone could explain to me a step by step way to get this emulator to work on my PS2. I tried several ways but I'm just getting coasters.
Perhaps there is a tutorial for this emulator somewhere. Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Here's exactly what I did...
made a "games" folder within the "cd" folder (from the extracted ps2vice zip) and put all my c64 games in there. The folder can be any name at all.
I then dragged all the files from within in the "cd" folder using win explorer to cdgenps2 (v3), created the bin/cue image ("IMG" button), and then "burn existing image" with nero express - opening the cue file to burn. I didn't alter any settings at all.
I didn't shorten the game filenames the names either, cdgenps2 does this automatically, but if any when shortened are repeated, cdgenps2 will not add those files - it'll tell you which ones after dragging them. The filenames go off the edge of the menu if you do it this way - think it was about 21 characters (including extension) if you want em to fit in the menu properly, they still work though (the larger ones that it)
I have a modchip too by the way - don't know if it works with the nomod swap trick, or other methods (if there's any).
Hope this helps - If you need any more info let me know.
Just a tip, if you have a shitload of games, you might want to make more than one folder for them - scrolling through the files in the ps2vice menu takes a long time, and it resets to the top of the filelist each time you go to load a new game.
Thanks for your help I'll try your advise and let you know how I made out :)
I tried what you said and it loaded, however since it's PAL format the screen was all scrambled.
Is there anything I could do to fix this problem, or convert it to NTSC?
My Mod-chip is a DMS4EZI if that helps.
Thanks in advance
please can anybody tell me how to get rid of thes annoying skips i get when burning games ( espically ea games i.e nba street vol3!!!!). I use dvd decrypter to decrypt games then alcohol to burn that image. I do it a 1x speed . I use ritek + or maxwell - dvds. I bought my ps2 in about 2003 and got a modchip called ripper gold 2.

yo all, heres how to burn ps2vice on a dvd instead of cd. (warning: i didnt have any luck using imgburn or sony cd/dvd generator). so instead, load NERO, and when the 'new compilation' window appears, choose 'dvd' and pick the 'DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)' option. in the 'multisession' tab choose 'no multisession'. in the 'ISO' tab choose 'ISSO 9660+Joliet' for the file system. for 'file name length' choose 'Max. of 31 chars (Level 2)'. for 'Character Set', choose 'ISO 9660'. for relax restrictions, choose 'allow path depth of more than 8 directories', also choose,'allow more than 255 characters in path' and also 'allow more than 64 characters for Joliet names'. next, on the 'UDF' tab, leave it set as 'Automatic settings'. on the 'Label' tab, leave it as 'Automatic' and put in any Disc Name you want for your dvd. on the 'Dates' tab just leave it alone. on the 'Misc' tab just leave it alone. on the 'Burn' tab set your write speed (try to burn slow, eg. 4x maximum). ok now click the 'New' button and you go into the nero file browser. simply drag into this window your PS2Vice files. you may also add a dummy file, but make sure your dummy file is less than 2gb or you will have problems (you could always add two dummy files, each 1.5gb if you wish. note: if using a dummy file, drag this into the compilation window FIRST, and call your dummy file something like 0.0 (zero.zero) to ensure it is burned FIRST in your compilation). ok when you are ready now simply burn your disk (slowly) and you will have a qorking ps2vice DVD instead of CD! finally, i am still using vice 1.14 because i notice with the newer versions i had some crashes and some games not loading. so if you also experience problems with games not loading, simply use vice 1.14 instead.
