playing burn ps1 games on soft modded ps2

After reading a bunch of forums it seems like once u mod Ur ps2 using the free mcboot u cannot play burnt games? How do I get my ps2 to play burnt ps1 games? Plz help

You need a modchip to play burned ps1 games.
