Hey, I'm planning on modding my slim ps2. The model is 77001a, basically what I'm wondering is if this guide will work with my system.
The guide I'm looking at is on the freemcboot website, under intallation, AR MAX.

I'm doing this because I want to be able to play backups so any advice, or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

    From the faq:
"All consoles made before mid 2008 work with FMCB. The new Slim SCPH-9xxxxx models with a Date code of 8C and a BIOS v230 dont work with FMCB. All models after this version also will not work with FMCB"

I saw somewhere else that 77001a had a date code of 6C so it should work, but check to be sure.

So if your not doing a disc swap you don't need to cover the sensors? Correct?

Also, I don't have an AR Max, and they may not be easy to come by anymore. What is the simplest method of getting my ps2 to be able to run backups.

Is it possible to use a usb memory card reader and put it on there, any help appreciated! Thanks.

Hey, didn't get any replies list time but I'm still looking for answers before I actually do this. The console 77001a, with date code 7b. I'm willing to buy an Action Replay Max Evo to install FMCB but before I go ahead and do it I was hoping someone knowledgeable would chime in.

I'd like to know if my system will work with the mod, and I'm also wonder the best way to install FMCB. Not necessarily the cheapest, but the easiest. AR will cost about $30 or $40, so I'm just wondering if there is a cheaper way to do it! Thanks,

If you have a PS3 Memory card adapter, you could use this method to install fmcb

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/new...ll-fmcb-88649/

Swap Magic is way cheaper and easier to find than Armax is.

And the Volunteer service, I don't know who all does that anymore.
