    Quoted from the PGEN readme:
In order to use PGEN, you will need to know how to boot cdrs on your PS2
Your PS2 will simply not just boot any old CD. A unmodified PS2 will only boot a PS2 cd which contains the correct digital signature. The signature is such that it cannot be replicated using a CD/DVD burner. In order to boot media which lacks this digital signature on your PS2, you have two options:
    • You can get a nonswap modchip installed in your PS2. This will then enable your PS2 to boot directly from any media (CDR, DVDR etc). There are many modchips available, search the rest of the forums for more info.
    • You can do the swap-trick. This involves a bootdisc and a way of swapping CD's without the PS2 knowing (this can be done with swap modchips, the "knife trick" etc). Once again, search the rest of the forum for more info.

so i.o.w's: you need something added to the PS2's board to make PGEN work? making a PGEN work with a PS2 that's out of the box won't work?
