  1. #1 No XviD with PS2 Mediaplayer

    Hi guys

I have tried everything but I just can't play any XviD movies with my Mediaplayer!

I have also tried to change the XviD header to DivX with FourCC changer, but also with no luck. I have tried with several different cd-r but nothing helps!

I have no problems booting any of the different versions of the mediaplayer, tried 1.25, 1.28 and 1.50 all with the same result!

When I play a normal DivX movie it plays fine and smoothly , but when I put an XviD disc in my PS2 it kinda locks up and then starts reading the disc again and locks up again and so on!

    I have a Messiah 2 Chip!

Hope you can bring me some good advices

    Regards
    koxxxx

it might be the way you burned the cd. - remember, all discs must be burned in MODE2.

see if your computer reads it. if it does, play it and get some of the bitrate info on it and stuff.

try again, except this time at a very slow speed.

and if you can, try that xvid file and another divx on the same disc.

sorry i cant give any specific answers as i have never encountered this problem.

very weird problem cuz actually if u can play divx5 there should be np with xvid, and you shouldn't need to change the fourcc if your using the 1.5 mediaplayer.
And u don't have to burn in mode2, i don't, and it works fine.
the mediaplayer doesn't support all xvid builds, so if your rip is encoded with a newer one (e.g. it doesn't play rips encoded with quaterpel properly) maybe it doesn't supports it, have u tried playing older xvids in your player?

YOUR ps2 can read MODE1 and MODE2 cd's bc of the version of the laser. but that doesnt mean that everyone else's will too. mine doesnt.

lol yea i guess it is. although newer does not mean that all will be able to support mode1.
