In case you guys missed the great news posted by SceneButNotHeard on the news page:

    PSX POPS Emulator for PS2

The PSX POPS Emulator has been leaked and some gamers have been testing it on the PS2. Very few gamers know about this, but it's basically an early version of the PSP Playstation emulator which was used to run the Playstation Game "Bishi Bashi Champ", which was released on the PSBBN (And pulled by Sony shortly after HDLoader was released). It was reported that game compatibility is quite good.

Here's the original thread at the assemblergames forum:
Testing out POPS-00001 on PS2 (Need help on PATINFO.KELF)

A demonstration video by vash32 (the original poster):

They don't have the source, it came from the downloadable PS1 game Bishi Bashi Champ 3 from PSBBN, the early PSN. They decrypted the emulator that the PS1 game used.

    It also may be related:

If you do a Google search for: Official PSone Emulator for PS2 HDD (aka POPS-00001) You'll find the ISO downloadable at some sites.

I just ordered a new HDD for my PHAT so I can test this.

What interests me is that PSX Games may be projected in 480p--plus comparing the quality of the images between PS2 and PS3, the PS2 seems to render the PSX graphics a bit more smoother than PS3.

Just saw the news, but couldn't post at assembler to get awnsers.

I have a lot of questions, as Im sure many other will about it and whats going on with it.

Is it in a state yet that it can be ran without hex editing? (end user state?) I know its probly not near there yet but at least something I can try out for myself?

I heard it might not work on hdds bigger then 128gb or at least it might screw them up, is this still a factor? I have a 320gb ready to dedicate to this so no worries if it gets corrupt and I need to reformat, but is it at least usable?

also read there was an audio track issue? can this be clarified, if so is anyone working on a fix, or at least a program that could maybe auto convert the tracks in the iso.

anything other info that would be helpful. Im really interested in this project. Not nocking grievers ps1 emu, ive heard many have had lots of luck with it, but it wasn't noob, or end user friendly for me at all, and this is looking to be a great alternative.

    Thank you!

thanks was just checking that out, and picked up the release using the hex editing stuff.

noticed there was a lot more to it then I expected, since the games have to be altered to a Japanese version state? also it looks as if the the emulator is actually being injected into each game seperatly?

correct me if Im wrong that's jut what im getting out of it?

I haven't ever used the hex editing stuff and try to stay clear of it, one of the reason I opl instead of the awesome looking hacked hdd osd. plus that what are great programmers are here for
makes things much easier on noobs like me, but I would like to do what I can to help move this along.

As I said I have an hdd ready to dedicate just for this emu, makes me want to pull the ps2 out of the closet

The reason that may be it is using some of the PSX hardware in the PS2 while PS3 just emulates all like just like psp

Found out why could get the file stupid me peer block had level 3 on and they use it to connect
