I'm dead tired that PS2 mame only plays old and very small games with full speed. Is there anybody working on improving mame for PS2?? (better speed, 2 player, analog support ect)??

Well, not to kill your hope, but PS2 mame will probably never support bigger game. There is just not enough RAM in the PS2 for that.

Well, X-Box is not really a console you know.

OFCOURSE PS2 MAME CAN BE IMPROVED. The damn thing only plays 150 kb or less games. With optimization it could run most games perfectly, only the ones as you say that require more ram than what's in the PS2, but those a very few! Dont tell me that, for instance "outrun" couldn't be played at full speed? ofcourse it could!

Why are you asking if you already know what you want??You won't see game like Metal Slug running on the PS2 anytime soon. Sure it could be improved, but there is no way to achieve a perfect port for the PS2.

If you would care to read my subject, I do not ask or question whether or not PS2 mame can be improved, I ask if someone are working on improving PS2 mame. The current PS2 mame is just pc mame ported over with NO optimization whatsoever. All the best and classic mame games are <4000 kb games, they could ALL run perfectly on PS2

Funny you are behaving as though improving a release will never happen. well, PGEN and Snesstation have seen several releases, and the PS2 reality player is continuously improving... why not PS2 mame?

True, PS2Mame could be improved (a lot). However, I dont see this happening unless somebody is willing to take over development. The original MAME porter is not likely to ever do another PS2Mame release, so its up to somebody else now. Currently I dont see anybody who is willing to take the challenge, so dont hold your breath for a new release.

Sure, it could be optimized. What I wanted to say is that it will never be a complete port of MAME like the one on X-Box. Also, you should calm down.
