need a mame cd question answered
need a mame cd question answered –
i've built a mame cd using the 30 zip file method and everything worked fine.
tried again but using (70) zip files extracted to seperate folders in the roms directory and after the ps2newz banner has gone and the mame interface and rom list should come up i am left with just a thin blue border.
all of the files and directories are in capitals. the names are using 8.3 standard.
when i did it the first time, in the gamelist.txt i used the name of the zip file minus the .zip extension. when i tried again using unzipped roms, i just extracted the files to directories that were named the same as the zip and the layout of the gamelist.txt didn't change.
was this right or did i need to do something to identify the names in gamelist.txt as a directories?
I got the same result like you... but all roms seens good with zip format ... why you want to unzip it? ... will this make mame run faster?
from what i've understood of the post's so far on this subject, if you use .zip files your are restricted to just 30 roms, but by extracting each zip file to a seperate folder you can have 200+.
so my main desire is to stick a load of confirmed 100% working roms onto a single cdr so there's no 'which disc was this game on' situations.
other posts have suggested an improvement in the speed of a rom loading by not having to unzip and run in memory aswell.
