Way back when Windows2000Pro was my preferred OS, The PS2 was hot tech and I was still messing with old server hardware, I had a HUGE collection of PSX games, About 1 and a half 100CD-Books full if I do remember correctly. Around that time I had started ripping my faves to my HD and using ePSXe to play them as my PSone stopped working and I was saving up to get a PS2.
A few years later, fire destroyed the house and everything that I did not take with me to collage, including my PSX game collection...

    Fast Forward to present day...

Less then a year ago I found one of my old computers from collage I forgot about in my storage unit. On it's harddrives I found something even more important: Part of my PSX Game Collection! The good stuff too, FF7 and FF8 are among them!!

Well, needless to say, I would like to play them again. But epsxe doesnt work well with linux (at least I can't get it to work) and I don't think burning the images to disk will work on the ps2. So I am wondering how to do this. Anyone have any ideas?

    My Configuration:
    PS2 Slim SCPH-70012
    SoftMod: FreeMCBoot

    >>>>EDIT: I found an uLauncherELF swap method on this site minutes after I posted this. Would still like to know if there is a way to load PSX images from a USB drive

YOU could try psxloader.elf, works on v9 and up consoles. but it doesnt load psx games from USB.
EDit: as of yet there is still no way to launch psx games from USB(forgot to add that sorry)

Thanks for that info. I will check out psxloader.elf.

On an unrelated but related note (confused? So am I) I got epsxe working on linux with no issues. I uninstalled the version that the LinuxRepo's installed and used this howto from scrach to build a new install. Very painless. http://www.psy-q.ch/gaming/linux/epsxe_howto/
I hope that helps if anyone comes across this thread in a situation simular to my own

This means in plain English ( not trying to be a dick about it), you are no longer allowed BY LAW to have ANY COPY of those games, even if at one time you had the originals.

Likewise, you may not sell or give away your backup copy without the original.

Of course, with the advent of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), breaking the copyright protection on a piece of software you own has been made a crime in many cases, so if the software you are backing up implements copyright protection, it may also be illegal.

    HOWEVER:

Even if you own the original game, you are not entitled to download a copy of it. Copyright law clearly states that the only copy of software you are entitled to is the one you make yourself.
This is the Law and this Site nor any member here can help you with these games.

    Sorry...

i do not want to sound like an asshole, but the more elaborate the story that justifies playing "backups", the less i believe it. and "cool story, bro" just begs to be said.
