MIPS R5900b instruction set.

Hi,

I'm looking for the instruction set documentation for the ps2 (MIPS R5900b)? Any idea where I can find it? (except for ps2linux dvds )

I'm specifically looking into how cd checks work, in the case that they exist. If they do exist then how can I recognize them. My aim is to burn an original cd game onto a dvd-r (reason: my ps2 is broken and will not load cdrs.)

Tools and docs I have:
- Cdvdgen 1.5
- IDA Pro Advanced 4.3
- IML2ISO
- Record Now MAX
- Ripping for Dummies tutorial
- LBA tutorial

Please point me to any other source that may be useful.

I got this doing a google search. Read this thread for some links to documentation on the R9000.

Most of the patches around for dvdrips change the "is this a DVD" check to something that always replies true, so I reckon all you would need to do is search for those sorts of checks on the CD and then use cdvdgen to make a DVD image. Perhaps looking for dvdrip tutorials might be what you are after. Another tool that would be useful to you is Hannibal's PS2Dis, but I can't remember the url for it. A google search should find it.
