With Divx's that are encoded with a VBR mp3 soundtrack, the Player refuses to fast forward or resume from pausing.
Most movies seem to run out of sync as well.

The only solution I have found is to make sure the mp3 soundtrack is encoded at a cbr (constant bit rate) mp3.

Hopefully in the future, the media player fixes this incompatiblity.

A vbr mp3 encoded DIVX also affects the default DIVX Playa that comes with the DIVX 5 codec, but not Media Player or Zoom Player...

The new version of Gordian Knot is set to VBR by default and is a pain to change.

If anyone has any other suggestions on this particular problem that will be muchly appreciated.

    Cheerio.

    Easy fix.
In the Divx Encoding Contol panel just use custom params and put this line in next to lame: --alt-preset cbr 128.
My Azid presets are like this: -L -3db -s surround -c normal
The movie now has CBR audio mp3....BUT Gordian Knot flags it as VBR.

Just open the avi in Virtual dub, it will give a vbr warning - just ignore it and resave the file (direct stream copy, both for video and audio) it will take about 2 mins. Presto, we have seeking capabilities on the PS2.

    Cheers.
