This is, as the title says, MCManager. It allows you to copy save games to and from your HD (compatible with the PS2MNU-K database). It also allows you to delete saves off your MC. The benefit of this over the PS2 Browser: MCManager shows how big a saved game on you MC is without you haveing to select it. This makes it easy to figure out which game to take off when you need space.

Why is this better than PS2MNU-K for save storage?

    1) the database is sorted alphabetically
    2) you can use te USB keyboard for renaming
    3) the onscreen keyboard has more characters to choose
    4) when you rename, you can add color tags to the save (explained below)
    5) lists the MC by save game, not as a directory tree
    6) if you don't have a save partition, you can select size of the partition to create
You can grab it here or here
    Sorry for my bad english

The gui is text based and really easy to use (I experienced too some deleted saves with PS2Menu-K but now it's very usefull)

    L2 to choose Destination
R2 to see what saves are on hd
    R1 to choose Mc1 or Mc2
    Start to popup a menu

I have no screenshot, just try it and you'll love it

Does this one support Japanese game saves (ie, display Japanese text properly)?

..the saves should work, but the characters and titles won't show up right.. They'd just have to make sure they rename them as soon as they back them up. The problems comes from knowing which game on the card is the right one if it's not displaying right..
Next version will have it automatically allow you to change the name as soon as you tell it to save

The program works fine, but looks very odd on my screen.
I'll try to describe exactly what I see below:

At the top I see 2 text lines stating what's on view, program title, and free MC space.

Next is a horizontal magenta line with black spaces to the right and left of it. This is possibly a normal text line of spaces+dashes+spaces (like ' --- ').

Then follows the main display area of 20 text lines (scrollable for more) presenting save games.

That is then followed by another horizontal magenta line, identical to the first one, marking the end of the screen, thus making the total 24 lines of intentional display, almost as stated in the doc's which said 25 lines.

There could be a completely black line below the ones described above, as that area on screen is black. However, I wouldn't document that as being 25 lines used, if one of them is always black...!?! Also, that black area has a height of appx 2.5 lines, not just one line. Normally I'd ascribe it to the vertical blanking field surrounding vertical sync, except that this is clearly not the case here as more non-blank stuff is displayed below it.

So, the really weird stuff comes below that black area, where I have some garbage (but with regular shapes) to a height similar to three of the text lines described above. This garbage consists of 10 nearly square rectangles evenly spaced across the screen width. starting with a white one at the left, followed by one containing random multicolor dots on black, followed by another white one etc, etc.

Finally, beneath the weird rectangles, I see another black area, to a height of appx 2 text lines, although this is most probably the start of a perfectly normal vertical blanking field. Note that the total visible screen height thus corresponds to the combined height of 31 text lines as described above, although that should not be possible with a normal NTSC or PAL video mode.

My TV set is a korean unit, perfectly compatible with both NTSC and PAL standards, so that is not my problem. Somehow this program has activated a video mode that does not follow either of those standards correctly (PS2 allows lots of such modes).

Potentially those modes can be quite useful, for TVs or computer monitors that can handle them, but here I think that the use of such a mode was unintentional. I find it strange that no one else has reported on this problem though.

Could it be that it only happens with some PS2s, but not all of them ?
Is there a difference in video modes implemented on different models ?

    Mine is a PAL V9 PS2, with a 'Ripper 2 Gold' mod-chip.

    Best regards: dlanor

The 25th line shows the date of the highlighted game in the DB. As for the junk under it, I have now idea what's going on. It uses regular 640x480 video mode. I've never seen it do anything like you describe.

And thanks for those screenshots. It's obvious the partition making menu is screwed up. I wasn't able to test this without reformatting my HD and I wasn't about to do that.
