Currently, I've been working at a game store where people can trade in their old hardware, including controllers and systems -- and thus, I need to test controllers before they can get sold, to determine if they're fully working or not.

Right now, I'm using a couple games to test them out with: the Sims, with which I can test every button and both analog sticks in just a few seconds (except for L3 and R3, and this irks me), Silent Hill 2, to determine if the third-party controllers I test are indeed DualShock 2 compatible (many of them are labelled as "for PS2" when they don't register as DS2 controllers, ugh. SH2 refuses to un-pause itself if that's the case, though.) and Soul Reaver, for those non-analog PSX controllers, but this takes longer than I'd prefer. (I love SR, but I'm often in a hurry to just get stuff done!)

I've looked around, and I think I must be missing it, if it's out there -- is there any homebrew software available that gives a simple button-test/input display that I might use instead? I'd need it to tell me which buttons/controls it detects as being manipulated, and maybe if it's a DualShock 2/compatible controller. I'd gladly put it in my FMCB memory card's apps folder!

If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great. I'm even willing to work with someone on making such an app, if they're willing to have the patience with me not knowing how to program yet. (I could do up the display in Photoshop, if that's wanted?) Thanks in advance, either way!
