Just got Free McBoot, need some help
Just got Free McBoot, need some help –
so i just got a memory card pre-installed with fmcb, and it left me with some questions. could i get a quick rundown on what these apps that came with it do? some are self explanatory, but i don't really know how to work with most of this stuff. here are the apps/options that came with it:
Lanch disc (pretty sure i know what that does lol)
can somebody tell me what some of those do? and also how would i go about getting emulators?
uLE - ulaunchelf - This is basically a file manager. You can use it to examine all files on cd/usb/hard drive and you can also use it to launch .elf files which are ps2 equivalent binaries
ESR - This is a launcher for Games burnt on DVD+R/DVD-R discs, it is an exploit that makes games patched with it show up as DVD's to the PS2 allowing them to be launched almost like a retail game
HD Loader - This is an application that lets you play games off of a hard drive if you have the network adapter with a hard drive hooked up to it
OPL - This is like HD Loader, but it also lets you play games over your network and from a usb drive
Launch Disc - Application that launches the current disc in your dvd drive, I don't think this is actually homebrew, I think it came with the PS2
To get emulators, check out sksapps.
I don't know if I'm allowed to put a link to sksapps or not.
Also, check out SMS. It's a pretty good media player.
thanks a lot, now as far as HD Loader goes, i looked into it and it doesn't really work for slims. i came across this thing called HD Pro, which basically makes it to where you can plug in an IDE hard drive as you would with a fat ps2, any insight on that? i googled it and didn't find many places that looked reliable for buying one. it might be dated, sadly.
I don't know much about HD Pro since I don't own a slim. I'd try ebay before I tried some dodgy chinese website, though.
ehh, i looked with not much progress. but i found out more about opl and set up an ethernet connection so i can play games from that, but i was wondering if you or anyone knew anything about the different modes (mode 1-8) what do they do? one guy said something about mode 3 is supposed to make games less laggy since by limiting data transfer or something like that. i need something that makes true crime: nyc play a little smoother, and it'd be good to know what i'm doing on opl other than configuring some settings and playing games lol
