In particular I would like to make my own MIPSEL port of debian.

there's no way to boot homebrew off cd or dvd without a mod chip.

I use Swap Magic, I can burn backups of the games in our living room, and the backups work, but when I try to burn SNES-STATION or PGEN on DVD they don't work :-(
However burning the same EMU with less ROMs on a CD SYSTEM.CNF with LBA @ 12231 and mode2/XA makes me able to boot.

My DVDs of SNES Station and PGEN work just fine!
