Would it be possible to write an app that would install game images to the PS2 HD for use with hdloader using the PS2's USB port. I know that the installation process would be slow (estimated 15min to an 1 1/2 hour per game) beside this draw back it could be very useful.

Is this at all possible, and if so, would someone consider writing it?

    Thank You!

Well it just make sense to me since hdloader can already install images from disc, and most pc apps can install games from images that could work, but I figured that the ps2 might have some limitations since the feature has not been previously developed.

See my situation is that my disc drive is broken, and since PC access is not always possible, I could keep all my images on a external device and still be able to install them.

It is a good idea. but the idea would be feasable only if the PS2 used USB 2.0. Unfortunately, it doesn't. USB 1.1 would be a compliment to it and to transfer a 500MB to a 8.5GB image to the ps2 using it's usb port would be excrutiatingly slow.

Yes a dual layer disc would take much time. a 600mb would takes about 15min on a pc, Devil May Cry (4.5G) take about 1 1/2 hour.

As I said install time may be slow, but for someone using the process would not complain, especially for it being convient for travel.
