How to use Codebreaker with OPL??
How to use Codebreaker with OPL?? –

Hi guys, I need some help to get this working. First of all, I did do a search and also Googled it for the past 45 minutes, and the guides I found are either old and outdated, or too complicated and confusing for me to understand......so ya hope you guys don't mind me asking a noob question :P
Before I go on, this is what I have:
PS2 SLIM model v15
ULaunchElf 4.41 (unofficial)
Free MCBoot v1.8b
CodeBreaker v10
OPL v0.8
Ok, so basically all of them works fine. Codebreaker v10 works fine when I insert my NTSC or PAL discs. OPL v0.8 works great as well.
What I want to do, as many people have no doubt asked before already, is to use Codebreaker with OPL. I wanna play my games on my USB or external hardrive by using OPL to launch them, but also want to use Codebreaker to cheat as well. From what I've researched and understand so far, you have to patch Codebreaker to make it bypass loading the disc, and load a .ELF file instead. Which means, you can either set it up so that Codebreaker loads your UlaunchELF or OPL (or whatever .ELF files you want).
The problem is, the patched CodeBreakers I've found are all either v9.2 or v9.3, but I'm using a v10. Also, I still want CodeBreaker to be able to load my discs as well, but also adding the functionality to load games from my USB flashdrive too.
So ya, can someone give me some quick instructions on how to do this? Thanks.

Yes, that's it exactly.
And in this context it is better to have CodeBreaker start a generic homebrew launcher such as uLE (== uLaunchELF), so as to allow for a wider range of game launch methods.
The problem is, the patched CodeBreakers I've found are all either v9.2 or v9.3, but I'm using a v10.
That's just bad luck I guess. I'm using a patched v10 elf myself, so they do exist.
You are really supposed to extract and patch your own, using a special patcher software developed for that purpose, and I think that posting (or asking for a post) of such an elf here would be a gross violation of site rules, as CodeBreaker is copyrighted software.
Also, I still want CodeBreaker to be able to load my discs as well, but also adding the functionality to load games from my USB flashdrive too.
That is not a problem.
If you let CodeBreaker launch uLE, directly or indirectly by relaunching FMCB, then you can use uLE to start whatever game you like. You can do this either directly by the "MISC/PS2Disc" command (works for both originals and ESR backups), or by launching a game loader like OPL, which can then run games with cheats from any of its supported media.
I normally use this to run games over LAN with cheats active, using games stored on an HDD of one of my PCs in the LAN.
So ya, can someone give me some quick instructions on how to do this? Thanks.
Once you have it set up properly there is no need for any complex instructions.
The way I use it, when after selecting game and cheats in CodeBreaker I give it the command to start the game, this simply results in starting uLE instead. And there I use whatever means I normally would to launch a game (whether from disc or via OPL), just as I'd do it without cheats. And when that game starts the cheats selected earlier will activate. It really is that simple to use.
The only complex part is to find or create the proper CodeBreaker elf.

hi thanks for the reply!
Ok it seems I got most of them right. But I still couldn't find any patchers for v10, would you be kind to post the link of where you got the patcher from?

You can find most stuff relevant to CodeBreaker patching in the thread reached through this link.
The first post of that thread contains useful links to several programs including patchers for most of the significant CodeBreaker versions, including one for CodeBreaker v10.

sweet I think I got it working!
First of all, I have the Codebreaker v10 Gamestop version, and the topic you linked to me shows that the patch is for the Gamestop version so it's compatible.
However when I ran the patch, it showed a message saying something like "Wrong version or file is already patched".
I clicked OK and tested it out and it seemed to be working, after I selected my cheats and launched my game, it didn't load the disc straight away anymore and instead it launched UlaunchElf, so I guess I got it working!
I haven't tested using OPL yet because I'm still converting some of my NTSC games that actually have cheats in the list of Codebreaker, but I tested a NTSC game disc by using ULE and launched FMCB to load the disc and the cheats still worked so I guess it works?
I'm just not sure if that message I got earlier is suppose to be normal or not but ya.....
anyway thanks for all your help!!

In fact I got that too, back when I did it.

Yes, I think so too.

Yes, definitely.
Btw: You can also boot discs from uLE by using the uLE FileBrowser command "MISC/PS2Disc", so that is a good command to put on one of the uLE menu button shortcuts. This way you can boot any disc in the tray just by pushing a button. And this launch command works for almost all disc types (PS1 originals, PS2 originals, PS2 ESR-backups, DVD-Video). Only CD-Audio discs are not supported by it (for weird techie reasons).
I'm just not sure if that message I got earlier is suppose to be normal or not but ya.....
It probably only means that GameStop made more than one release, with the latter having some minor difference that doesn't affect the patching, but which does result in this warning message.
anyway thanks for all your help!!
I'm glad I could help. (It's what these forums are all about...)
