I was playing a backup when it froze, i didnt think any thing of it at the time, but when i tried to play pgen it froze at the loading screen and i also tried snesstation and whenever i try to load a rom it goes to a black screen and flickers. I usually use codebreaker on my backups so, ill load codebreaker , then put im SM load Dvdloader put in SM for TOC then play bakup. Does using this swap method do any damage to my ps2 ?

This is a weird error. If you are able to actually boot the homebrew, then your swap trick is fine. I am not sure about anything further though...it must be some sort of hardware error internally in the ps2.
What version do you have? Anyone else have ideas?

I had a similar problem once, although my PS2 froze while using SNES station...after that, the only program my PS2 couldn't boot was SNES station. It was a V4 machine.
Since then I've gotten newer machines....wound up selling the V4 one at a local Gamestop.

Had an idea after reading teclis' post. Take your MC out, and now try to boot some homebrew games. If this works, then you need to delete your system configuration file.
