There are several patched versions out there. Google for them. If you want to use Codebreaker for ESR, look for the HDLoader patched Codebreaker.
    PS2 v7; non-mod; SONY BBA; Segate Baracuda 160GB HDD <FMCB 1.8 / ESR .9b on MadCatz 8MB MC>

    PS2 v4; non-mod; SONY BBA; Hitachi 60GB HDD (Failing lens ) <FMCB 1.8 / ESR .9b on Official Sony 8MB MC>

    Take those files

    ESR release 9b
    ESR GUI Patcher
Search for CB v9.3 or CB patch for HDL

    Then do all those steps

    From ESR 9b : Copy/Rename the Direct DVD.ELF to cb_launch.elf
Patch the ISO of ur game with the ESR Patcher.
Put the ELF of CB_9.3 into MASS:/BOOT,
    Put cb_launch.elf (ESR direct dvd.elf) into MASS:/BOOT.
Configure FMCB a new item for CB v9.3.
    Burn the patch ISO.
Put the new game in the PS2.
    Start CB v9.3
    Choose ur cheats
Start the game => u suppose to see different screen colors and the game booting after, if it's not doint this, tell me and will have to try another thing.
