Help with images and videos extracted from Okami –
07-15-2009,09:56 PM
Hi, there is group wich is working in a translation of Okami to spanish.
They only need to extract some videos, edit them and put again inside the disc.
And the have to edit some images.
They say, the use:
Game Graphics Studio or Dekazeta Studio.
Do you know how to edit these videos/images so they can translate them to spanish? Thanks for your help.

Hello guxtabo. Nice to meet fellow translators that are working on this incredible game.
Our team (me *translating, coding, general hacking, testing*, norek *translating, testing* and berion *graphics, testing*) did translate Okami into polish language. There is just final stage of testing in progress (the sixth one in total; and the patch is to be released shortly - custom patcher, right now 13MB compressed, 46 uncompressed, but after adding loader/intro/cracktro, call it whatever you like, it will most likely be 17-19MB compressed). The game had been fully translated, including graphics and movies. It's both japanese->polish and english->polish translation (most important parts were translated directly from japanese, less important parts were translated from english and just checked against original japanese text). We had to begin with creation of a new font (original one doesn't contain polish diacritic characters), but we changed every single piece into polish (with some minor exceptions, where it simply looked better with japanese text... like the writing on the stone in "River of Heavens" just before you get the rejuvenation technique, which says "天の川" - "Ama-no gawa"... It would be hard to put this many characters as in "Droga Mleczna" onto so small texture and make it still look good on the stone
)....
If you're interested, here is a teaser we made in december 2008 (christmas eve, this was the day we officially anounced the project).

Okami Polish Translation Teaser (Xvid Avi)
And here is the official web page of the Polish Okami Translation Project.
Since I coded a complete toolset that can do everything I like with this game, I guess it will be possible to release the tools to the public once the project is complete.

I am not programmer, but I tryed to help them to finish.
So, you think that if they get your complete toolset they can finish it?
Thanks a lot for your response.

Two weeks ago we finished and released the translation. I'm sure it's of no interest to you
. But there is something that some of you would probably like to see. I did upload a video of the intro I coded for the translation project. Berion did the gfx.
Sorry about the quality. My realtek hd audio sound card has some weird problems with line in (the sound changes so much, that it's hard to compensate). The video quality is also poor (I used 10 or 11 years old bt878 based TV capture card). Deinterlacing plugin made the framerate up to 50fps (to preserve all the info), but I had to convert it back to 25. This made the animation a little bit worse and jerky, but who cares
.
The starting screen depends on date and time.
The first part is a little bit long, because the intro won't let you go to another screen before the scrolling is complete (it will also take a little bit until solar eclipse is over). There is a presentation of the drawing mini-game and the default set of trophies (not all trophies and not all 'rewards' are used in this video). The sunrays were not included in the final version (the idea was great, but they look like crap). There are some hidden tropies that are availible at special occasions (heck, there is even a Santa Claus/Christmas special event
).
It's nothing special, really. Yet it made the project complete (and adds some extra entertainment). The sound is played directly from the game's munge. I wrote quite nice cri adx/aixf adpcm player (working fully on IOP, but can be controlled from EE by rpc calls) that supports seamless loops, multiple tracks in aixfs and decrypting (the audio is encrypted using some simple xor/add/multiply algo - actually, the scales for adx adpcm are encrypted... the key depends on game, some games don't use this possiblity at all...).
Anyway, the video is here:

Wow, bravo!
I bet many people would like to know what the tools and process you used to translate it into their language.
I'm really suprised this game wasn't translated into more languages by Capcom.
I'd thought it would have at least been translated to Spanish.
Thanks again ffgreiver for all you do to let us enjoy the PS2.
This makes me wanna go test Okami with the new GS mode patcher that doctorxyz and dlanor are working on!
