All I found on this forum was this: http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/ps2-...atibility.html

and as he said... all he did was copy and paste so it didn't help me at all.

Alright I recently got a PS2 and would like to install FMCB. My PS2 model is SCPH-50001/N and it isn't modded yet. What I would like to do is install FMCB to a memory card and than use that to run HDLoader. I am very familure with ELF's, swapping, and the liking as I have been a PS2 owner for quite some time now but sold my system and all my tools. I got FMCB on the memory card the last time via Codebreaker v8 and a usb stick.

Now all I have is a PS2, a memory card, the network adapter and a 300GB hard drive formatted with WinHIIP 1.7.6. I need to know the cheapest way to get FMCB on my memory card (without sending it to someone to do it for me).

I heard that there are many methods to boot uLaunch to run the install for FMCB. One method was load the ps2, goto the browse section, insert a ps1 game so the disc icon appears, swap the game with the backup (yeah disk will be still spinning and its a brand new sealed ps2) and press X to load the disk. Unsure if that will work but don't know if I really want to do that on a new system. Another method is the Gameshark swap which will run me about $10. The only problem is I don't know which versions work. Currently my local game store has Gameshark2 v1.3 and I believe its a cd.

So if someone here could help me out and suggest me the cheapest way to do this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, but I've read through those guides. All it says for the version is "Any version for the PS2 'should' work." and anytime it talks about versions it says not all work. I know anything above V2.2 do not work because it re-checks the game while loading it.

I'm not necessarily saying the Game Shark way is the way to do it. I'm just really hurting for funds right now so I need the cheapest way to do this. Thanks again for your help Popstation 2.

If you plan to go the Gameshark way, I've posted a created save for it to install the Independence Exploit. After that's on your memory card, you're then free to install FMCB.

Can I use Gameshark2 v4 to do this method? I need to know what the best Gameshark version to use. I would prefer to just do a swap and boot a cd with uLaunch on it than run the free mc boot install but if I have to I'll get a gameshark that supports usb and use the ps1 exploit to run uLaunch. Please help, thanks!

Not with this method. You need usb support to use my method and I don't believe version 4 has usb support to transfer the save. You mentioned version 1.3 in your first post which is what I have so I just made this suggestion if you decide to go that route. I'm not too familiar with the Gameshark swaps so I can't help you there.

Yes I have the option of getting Version 1.3 or Version 4.0. I think version 4.0 comes with both cd and dvd versions where 1.3 is on a cd. Since you said you did it with 1.3 I'll just buy that, use your save, and see what happens. If it doesn't work I'll just be out $10 plus tax but I'm sure it has an option to add in new cheats so I'll just use it as intended and buy a Codebreaker. Thanks again and I'll let you know!
