dms3 help (scph18000)
Hi, i am having big problems with the dms3 i just installed in my system. i have posted all this on the jap/asian forum also, but i thought i may as well post it here to
before i start, let me just say this is my first dms3 i have ever done, so i am sort of new the dms3 scene. anyway, onto the problem
ok, so i just installed a dms3 in my scph18000 gh003 ps2. there was one problem however, since there are on diagrams for an 18000, and the picture i had of an install was on a gh008, i sorta had to piece the points together from the 10000/15000 diagrams, and the picture i had, since the gh003 is kind of like a cross between a 10000 and 18000 gh008.
anyway, heres what happened: i installed the chip, and i think i did a good job and i did pretty much everything i was supposed to do. Im pretty sure i ran the wires the right way and i used larger cables for the power wires. I did, however, use alternate points on the top of the motherboard for X and E. so, anyway, i tried it out, and heres what happened: i turn it on, and i open the tray and put metal gear solid vr missions in, and then back to standby. i turned it on and held circle like i was supposed to, and the game started to load, but the motor started spinning really loudly, and nothing happened, so i put it back to standby, and tried again, but this time, the tray kept trying to open by itself. it would sort of come out like a centimeter, then go back in, and sometimes the blue light would blink as if it were gonna open again. So then i tried to open it with the button, and nothing happened. so then, i kept trying to load the game, and nothing was happening, and pretty much the game was stuck in there, so anyway, i tried turning the modchip off, and that worked, but the tray still wouldnt open, so then tried to load the game again, but this time i accidentilly helded down triangle for devolution mode, so then the tray came out for some reason, and it went to the browser screen, and said no data (or data ga arimasen, if you want the japanese part), so then i reset it, and tried turning the modchip off again, and this time, the screen came up, and the sound on the tv was the sound the ps2 usually makes when there is a game inside and it has begun to load it, but there was no game inside, and it went the the browser/system configuration select thing, but the controllers didnt work. this happened like 2 more times, and then after that, there was no screen, then i tried turning the modchip off, and still no screen. So i unplugged the system and now am just waiting for a response on here to see what you guys think.
by the way, i plugged it in again, and the screen is back again, but after a few tries, it craps out again. i also realized the tray, when i turn it on the first time, comes out almost all the way, then goes back in, and everytime i try again, it opens a less and less each time, until it wont open at all.
I do have one question about the dms3, since this is the first one i have ever done. when the ps2 starts up, is the browser screen supposed to take a little longer to come up since the modchip is so powerful? cuz on this one, its seems as though the screen flashes an extra time, then a second later the screen comes up. is this normal? Because whenever i tried turning the modchip off, this didnt happen
I am not sure what firmware the dms3 has on it, but i was gonna update it with 1.8 when i installed it, but then all this happened.
thank you for any information given.
