Ok, hopefully I can get someone here to give me some assistance.

. I have scoured the net for an answer to my dilema with no avail. Please reply if you have any feedback..at all
It would be greatly GREATLY appreciated
    Here goes

First thing , i have actually already made a working copy of ps2mame, so I KNOW my setup works. I was just trying to update the verison I have with some new roms last night.

Here is what happened last night ,maybe you can help.

First off, the first one I made (the one that works) only had about 10 roms or so and they were the zipped roms. the one I made last night was the same (keeping it under 30 roms)(i also have about 100 roms ready to go in their our directories unzipped, which I tried as well and got the same problem)

I noticed that when i Drag the contents of the PS2Mame folder into the right-hand window of CDGenPS2. and i Set the LBA tab and then enter "12231" as the LBA it does NOT automatically set the LBA on the other files for me. The only way i could get it to set the other LBA files for me was to FIRST drag over JUST the .cnf file, set the lba accordingly there, and then drag the other files over..When I did it that way it did set the other lba's.
I also noticed that the contents of the ps2mame folder also had a few .nfo files, which i did not include (should i leave them ??, i took them out but I don;t see that being a problem)
Another thing I noticed is that the time in the File editor of the .CNF file was not the same time as my system time (and it did not have an option to choose AM/PM , like the walkthrough shows)

Besides those differences, i did it step by step : i got the intro screen ps2news.net to load, then it goes to a black screen with a blue boarder.
I think it has to do with the program not properly setting the lba's..but I have no idea

Do you have any feedback at all, or can they point me in the right direction.

    Thank you very Much

PS trying to burn to cdr (not naplink) and it did work for me (the first time, at least) ..did I just get lucky or is this a tested method to burn to cdr..

    Just a few things
    1. I'm using Nero to burn the image, do I need to specifical yset to a certain mode for it to work?
    2. When dragging the files over to cdgenps2, is there a certain order i need to drag them over

PLease, any help would be vERY GREATLY APPRECIATED

means you did something wrong on the file "gamelist.txt". Remeber, you can only list 30 games, max, although I throw all of the games on, the whole mame folder I collected, but I also added mame32 and a windows autorun, so although my ps2mame cd's have the best 30, they'll play about 100 in Windows, just by sticking it in the drive.

There are 2 different versions of ps2mame.elf!!! one is about 3 or 4 megs, and only works on cd (ps2news screen) the other is almost 15 megs, and is only for use with NAPLINK and a pl 2301 usb2usb cable (I use this one all the time) but they are both named ps2mame.elf.

I check and i DO have the correct .elf file (to put it directly onto a cd).
When you say there was error in the gamelist.txt file , coulf you be a little more specific.

Also, can you 'breifly' explain how the naplink feature works ?

Hard to tell what can crawl up the gamelist's butt, try replacing it with a straight copy off the cd that worked, and edit that one.
Naplink by Andrew K and NAPALM is a Windows program, and a ps2 cd-r that let you load demos off the computer, via a usb cable (Prolific PL 2301 $25 lik-sang), saving me many coasters. It plays ps2mame naplink version right off the usb...(on the actual ps2..usb port) and it loads really slowly that way, while the "host" proram in Windows lists every command "loading bla bla bla.." so if you have a bug, you see it and know what it is. I couldn't get it to load mame last night... "gamelist.txt error?" the file seemed fine, who knows, but I replaced it and started over, just like I jsut told you, and it worked, and that's how I know that. A very useful tool, for us "dev" guys. Theres another simil;ar tool called "Pukklink" that does about the same thing, only it uses the network adaptor, and loads demos off other peoples computers.

NEITHER OF THESE CAN HANDLE A COMMERCIAL GAME, DON'T BOTHER TO TRY. these are development tools only, but that's what I love to do.

if it's perfect, and there's no real reason for the failure, copy the text, delete the thing, open note pad, paste *I know it'll be the same thing, but mabe it's a time/date error thing, who knows, but it's happened to me before) and re-save a new "GAMELIST.TXT", make sure there are no more than 30 roms listed, and that the names exactly match the folders in mame...ie: ROBOTROYO or JOUSTWR

can i sound dumb here, just checking but if you leave the roms in their original folders you just put the folder name in the games.txt list or the actual roms from the folder?
if its just the folder then the easiest way i can see of getting the list accurately is using a simple dos command.
in dos just go to the folder where all the directories are stored and type
    dir /b > games.txt
this will make the text file for you.
