Custom HDDs

Sup, I heard there was a way to have your custom HDD. meaning you dont have to have the Official HDD. I was reading something on this at DMS forum, but I didn't understand how to format the drive to a ps2 console, and was wondering if the dms prog would work considering that I have a Magic 3 chip.

The DMS crap will never allow you to use an off the shelf HDD rather then a sony branded one. The sony branded one has special firmware. What DMS is talking about is the ability to launch emus and other crap from the HDD. Also PS2 games WILL NOT boot from the HDD like xbox.

Hi the DMS3 can "patch" a non $ony HDD.
I have played unpatched versions of WE 6 , WE7 and socom II with a non-$ony HDD. The game installed and ran from the HDD, still need the cd to boot though.

But is there a tutorial to how to put your own HDD to your ps2 and is do I HAVE TO HAVE the dms chip. Cuz i have a Magic3. also I just wanna use my hdd to save files. like a memory card and also for emulators.

there use to be a website on it, but its long gone.......google's cache might be able to retrieve it. as for the tools needed to convert the hdd...that requires the use of google too.

Damm but I keep getting HDD ads for ps2 or reviews or NEWS ps2 now in america and stuff like that.

so can you make your HD in a sony HD? there must be a way to dump sony firmware and flash it in your HD

i`ve been googling for HD Firmware dumpers and such , didnt come up with anything good

just try something simplier like "use your own harddrive on ps2"

also try ownz. i think they originally discovered it. (not sure though since i havent followed it closely)
