Im a noob to the emu's for ps2 scene and the whole homebrew thing, I've got a few questions about this AR Max Evo that I just got the other day and yeah I've got the max drive flash mem thing that goes with it. Bear in mind I have an unmodded ps2.

Is there any other emu's besides PGen that will run straight off of the max drive?

Is there any way of manipulating the Autoexec.elf file to use another emu besides PGen?

Is there any cross over homebrew games like for example nes games or atari games that people crossed over as genesis games that would work under the PGen emu?

What do I need to do in order to get an atari emu, nes emu, sega mastery emu & snes emu to run off of the max drive on ps2?

    Thanks for your time,

Ummm your best bet with the NES and GB emus is to get yourself a HDD... If all you want is the emus and games on the drive a 10GB drive would suffice.... you can get a 40GB drive for under $50. Now the atari 2600 emu reads ROMs from the MC.. and it should run the emulator from the USB Drive... same with the TG-16 EMU (PSPCE) reads ROMS from the memory card as well.... so it might run from the USB....

But in both of these cases the ROMS will need to be on the MC

as for that I think that the atari 5200 reads from the MC... so that may work as well.

and if I remember correctly (been a while since I used my AR MAX) you chould be able to browse the USB Drive with the media player on AR MAX and launch the elf files from it.

Ok, but I don't understand (remember Im a NOOB let the screaming commense lol) what I would need on the flash mem max drive, keep in mind it will only hold 15Meg, so what do I put on there in order to make an atari emu or a nes emu or a snes emu or a sega mastery emu or for that matter all of them work?

you would need to use the USB drive to load Launch Elf.... available in a dozen locations... I suggest the thread on the previous page for uLaunch Elf... then after running Launch Elf you can copy any ROMS to the MC.... and any apps that you would want to run....

I think I have over 250 games and the Atari 2600 emu in the same folder on my MC and they only take up <700KB... a 2 to 4KB per ROM.... I usually keep my MC saves with roms on the HDD and copy over when I need one...

If you have a PS2 that is not a slim PSTwo then you can get a HDD and install the exploit to run from the MC....

The exploit allows one to use a PS1 game to force the PS2 to boot a file from the MC. Then you can access all the files on the USB device, memory cards, and hard drive if you have one installed... and since you have the AR USB drive you can install the exploit with little effort.

With the exploit installed you can run EMUs from the HDD and HD Loader to hold and run PS2 games from the HDD. Along with MC Manager that allows you to keep a database of backed up MC saves on the HDD. Now with all the patches availble you can use a HDD of any size... a 200GB drive is about $100 on www.pricewatch.com.

But for you, you can get a 128MB Lexar JumpDrive from Walmart (if you live near one) for about $30....

put Launch Elf on the USB drive with your computer (and any ROMS and EMUs).... then plug it into your PS2 and load AR MAX.... go to the media player on AR MAX and browse the USB drive... find Launch Elf and run.... it should boot up Launch Elf...

then using launch elf you can create directories on the memory card for the ROMS....
and then copy them to the MC... to use Launch Elf you should download my tutorial... I cover using Launch Elf.... Go here... http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38030 and download the 2nd part.... this has the PDF tutorial... then skip down to page 9.... becareful some of the information is for HD Loader... but it does a decent job of explaining Launch Elfs functions.

or if you wish to install the exploit using your AR MAX so that you can boot Launch Elf from the MC with a PS1 disc... you can use this tutorial on building and installing a AR MAX Gamesave to the MC to do it. http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30257

Ok I'll give it a shot tommorrow, well actually today but later as it is so late, but this is the game plan, I'll copy all the files from the launchelf.zip that I downed to the usb drive (Im assuming you mean my max drive) and I'll copy over the atari emu and roms and I'll try it out and let ya know what happens

Well I put the uLaunchElf.zip on there, I extracted it's contents and then put it on the max drive but the only Elf files on it was Boot.Elf & Boot.Elf with a c, and I tried both of those but it only gave me a black screen and then nothing, so what am I doing wrong?
