Compatibiliti of PS2- USB 2.0 or 1.1?

Hello comunity. I have one question, i will install MCboot in my ps2, and i want to buy an external case for Sata and IDE devices, but i dont know if it will work because every external cases have a compatibility for USB 2.0, my question appear because the ports of playstation 2 is USB 1.1, for this i dont know if it will work. Help me please.

PD: The programs that i use are: Open PS2 Loader, USB extreme. Thanks!

But this has nothing to do with USB 1.1.

All USB 2.0 are backward compatible with USB 1.1.....

But maybe you have bad luck and the USB-HDD is not compatible with the PS2.

The only way is to test it......

the only reason i say ramdom is because the 2 usb hdd's i have tried just for testing 1 worked the other dident now mind you my ps2 is a fat with an internal hdd so thats what i ues

I don´t say that you are wrong if you mean this....

I only would say to creperman if the HDD don´t work than it´s not for the USB 1.1 compatibility.

Cause he asked if the HDD´s USB 2.0 are compatible to USB 1.1.

If your one HDD don´t work, than it´s while the Hardware (adapter in case of HDD) is not compatible with the PS2 and not while your HDD is not compatible with USB 1.1..... ;)

To be precise, it's not because the USB device is incompatible with the Playstation 2 console's hardware, but is incompatible with the USB drivers that control the Playstation 2 console's OHCI USB ports.

I think that I can see a bug in the USB driver lol - since it seems like the timer functions doesn't work the same way on slimline consoles as on fat consoles - since increasing the value makes it compatible with some USB devices like my OVATION USB HDD enclosure (While the same devices have always worked on fat PS2 consoles).

Of course, if your device doesn't get detected by PS2ESDL v0.821 (Which has the workaround I mentioned above), that means that the compatibility issue is caused by something else.
