I have a Slim PS2. And I've followed a guide to copying the Codebreaker ELF to the MC and the CB_Launch ELF there, too. The problem is, I try booting it up through the button press, but I only get a black screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I think this has to do with the patched CB file when you run it on a FAT PS2 with a HDD it copies a file to HDD then crashes on black screen the next time you boot it up it loads fine because it can find the file on HDD this is probably why it won't work on slimeline cos it can't find that file, I'm not even sure what the file is meant for cos it doesn't save codelist or options.

If your slim is SCPH-7500x or newer, Codebreker will not work with most if not all usb storage devices plugged in due to a USB driver issue with Sony's 'upgrade' (if you call it that) on their hardware/X-modules.

Sorry, was extremely pissed due to kevstah and wasn't thinking clearly.

But I need set up details. It's impossible for anyone to diagnose a problem with no information other "it works" or "it doesn't work"

    system version? (scph #)
    brand of memory card? size?
mod chip in the system? if so which one?

Then explain the importance of the file being copied to HDD and it's purpose instead of dismissing it and getting angry for no good reason and the fact CB refuses to load up until it is copied onto my HDD it accesses the HDD adds a file to HDD and then hangs on black screen, to run CB I have to then restart my PS2 once it's copied the file to HDD and re-run CB from there on CB works as normal.
