hi, the codebreaker ELFs include HDD support but its really quite an annoyance rather than a useful feature since as far as i can tell it cant be accessed by any other software, so any cheats on there are kind of locked so to speak since there is no method to read the data on that partition (uLE cant access it. ). i have two FAT PS2s, a v1 and a v3, and if i remove their HDD then codes/settings are saved to memory card, but once you put in the HDD it migrates to their HDD... which is why its more annoying than useful to me.

after some searching i found some hacks on this forum by ffgriever such as hex editting the ELF to remove all cheats in the internal database, which is great since you can then store only the ones that you need. and this made me wonder, is it possible to completely remove the HDD support from codebreaker? through the same hex editting method perhaps?

also, ive been having trouble running the cb2util linked to in this thread: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64126 ('cheats' file for codebreaker) i always have trouble with command line programs (even after reading the README lol), so could anyone please just upload a batch file to automate the process?

p.s. and while were at it, is it possible to do the same with PGEN? another application where the HDD support can just cause headaches instead of being useful... it makes it take ages to load on a big HDD, and that whole PGEN 1.1 thing just adds extra clutter.

sorry for all the big requests. thanks

well I managed to find a PGEN ELF that had the the HDD support removed by simply compiling the source code without HDD support, but my codebreaker issue still stands; is there any way to remove HDD support from it, and can anybody help me out with that cb2util program.

    thanks.

lol, if i ever do, you can be sure that i will...

but really i'd just like to find a way to just simply transfer cheats onto my v1 and v3 PS2s. i know that the v14+ slims have problems with USB devices in Codebreaker, but i haven't seen anything relating to the fat consoles. but when i put the cbc files on my USB codebreaker still can't see them. and thats why i wanted to use the cb2util thing, as an indirect way of making/editing cheats on my PC and transfering them to the PS2. but if i could simply get my FAT consoles to see them then i could avoid that question/problem entirely.

dlanor, you seem to have a ton of experience in the PS2 hardware/homebrew field... could you please help me and my queries. :P

or anybody else bestowed with that sort of knowlege please.

For this particular case I am unfortunately unable to help you.

That is because I too have had nothing but failure in all attempts to use CBC files.
So I dropped my attempts to do this long ago. As far as I'm concerned it's just mythology.

    Best regards: dlanor

Did you have upgrade.bin file on root level of USB flash drive and plug into your Fat PS2 prior CB bootup?

CBC files also be on root level of USB flash drive.

CBC files made with cbcMakerPS2 are only be use with legit Codebreaker discs (excepts of 9.2 and 10.x) or CBv92_GSHI_DAY1_ELFLDR built.

yes, it was a 9.2 ELF patched with the "automated" download from that thread. i followed your directions with the upgrade.bin and i copied the cbc files to the root of my USB, but still nothing. so it looks like the cb2util is my only option left, can anybody upload a batch file for it, since i can never get it to work?

kevstah2004 possibly, since he suggested it in the thread here http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64126 ('cheats' file for codebreaker)

If I remember right, I bundled bfoo's GSHI patch with the batch files.
