Boot-CD easily possible?
Boot-CD easily possible? –
trying to gather info about homebrew development, demos and certain apps like the emus and media players i was wondering if those files can be easily put on boot cds instead of dealing with usb/ethernet link options?
although some sites i found so far "decently" covered creating such boot cds, i^m still not sure about the topic.
is it possible to make bootable cds with any files i want at all? like if i wanted to test a new demo or emu...
maybe i should admit i already got a dms3, so is the devo mode required for this kind of task (if possible at all) or will it at least make it easier if i boot in devo mode?
would be nice if someone could give me a brief introductiong if such custom created cds are possible - got plenty of cdrw media which would be ideal to play with rather than to move the ps2 from the living room to my pc here with no proper tv set in the same room etc.
any link would be appreciated, as long as the linked site contains easily understandable information.
would be nice if it was just a matter of renaming the files to match a certain scheme or creating sme kind of boot file, blow up the image (if neccessary) with this addzero tool, burn it and enjoy the result later.
lets see what the pro's can say about this...
thanks, that already explains much
I wasn't aware that the Topic automaticly implies using warez... in fact i see no point in doing that this way... I always thought if one would want top use pirate copies he would just use backed up games
Anyway, do you have some of these other threads covering custom cd creation etc. handy? Nowadays searching the web can be quite hard or at least it's usually a very time hungry job, given the many wrong results you get... especially if it's a rather uncommon topic like ps2 homebrew development.
However, thanks for the answer, that will already help me getting into it. i think i'll immediately try and put some of these demos on a few rewritables and see how far i get with it.
got hold of a cheap pl2302 cable the other day so i tried to burn naplink onto a cd-r using cdgenps2 and it instantly worked like a charm in devo mode...
now let's collect some nifty demos and tools - it's quite cool running such homebrew stuff on that console
BTW. what about those tutorials, does anybody have some specific links? there are still a few topics which aren't explain properly in the usual docs those tools come with, like the LBA settings when creating ps2 boot cds and stuff...
