    Q: What is TBP?
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A: TBP is an effort to easily get MPEG video not only running on the PS2, but off the HD.
    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
    Q: Who's working on it?
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A: Just me, myself, and the voices in my head (just kidding about the voices in my head)....oh, and Frankthebunny (of these forums).
    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Q: Sounds kinda cool....do you have an estimated ETA?
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A: Sometime in the next 4-5 days...possibly sooner...
    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Q: Hey wait...Teclis?! Aren't you the guy who has Bullshitted us before about a mediaplayer 'in the works'?!?!
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A: Consider this work not only my apology, but my attempt at redemption...
    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
    Q: We'll see....
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    A: That you shall...

How about more than MPEG, like DIVX codecs?

Y'kno, I just have to point out here, that for YEARS now (even now) people have been complaining that MPEGs couldn't be played on the PS2, and now that we're on the verge of MPEG playback, you want DivX, something which has been available for playback on PS2 for some time now. There's no pleasing you people, is there?

But to answer your question, no; this is strictly for MPEG playback.

(and on a seperate note, Teclis has asked me to confirm my involvement in this project. Yes, I am involved in the development)

You'll have to forgive frank...that wasn't the world's most constructive answer....the honest truth of the matter is we don't know a hell of a lot when it comes to DivX playback...so unless someone like Hermes would like to offer some insight into DivX/XviD playback off of the HD, it's not going to happen...at least from us, anyway.

We're just two guys who know a few tricks here and there and managed to get this to work (to our complete and utter amazement...no joke there....).

So, long answer short, no DivX HD playback from us; sorry.

I'm assuming we're talking about MPEG-1(VCD) here, right? Could we be talking about MPEG-2 (SVCD) also?

Regardless, it sounds great and I applaud you for your effort.

We're focusing mainly on MPEG-2 right now, and looking into seeing if MPEG-1 is doable...however, it's not looking so good for MPEG-1....

Guys, as a video enthusiast (what am I not an enthusist of?), I'm very happy to hear it will be MPEG-2. I'm not a fan of MPEG-1 at all. I just assumed it was going to be MPEG-1, as MPEG-2 doesn't seem as popular as the other formats. If you need any help at all (anything - I don't know) feel free to AIM me @ JerseyMike4 or email me @ mike@mikestyle.com.

teclis, any chance you're from Jersey (just a guess from the avatar)?

**edit: FranktheBunny, I just noticed your location. You guys both from Jersey?
