I have a PS2 Slim, I purchased Swap Magic it came with custom lid which I have swapped out already. I am unfortunate as someone has stole my Swap Magic disk

I looking at alternatives now. I have about 50 back-ups which I backed up myself. They are clean images burnt using dvd decrypt and imgburn.

I could do FMCB with ESR but that would mean I would have patch and reburn all the disk images.

or use PS2 Loader? and mount all my images on a usb drive?

Or should I just suck it up and re-buy Swap Magic? I am looking for most cost and time effective solution. Thanks

I dont have my SwapMagic disc anymore either (stepped on it and broke it) so i use OPL and i have 160 games i play from my PC with it now. You can use the USBUtil 2.0 app and install them all on a drive or folder. Or you can wait for the next release and just use the ISO images as is, you will only have to rename them and place them into seperate folders, 1 for DVD and 1 for CD.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

First, you're right. It does defeat the purpose.

Second, You're talking about *ahem* distribution of copyrighted material. I say stop while you're ahead.

Download FMCB and Swapmagic iso from torrent. When you start FMCB I think you may start swapmagic elf from there. Just my two cents. I didnt try but maybe it can work.

Even if they did not copyright it, it contains copyrighted files from Sony.

It won't work. You can't install FMCB without a way to start the FMCB installer. The ability of Swapmagic to allow users to perform a disc swap isn't only a result of the software, but it also involves the pressed disc the Swapmagic software resides on to pass the PS2's disc authentication checks and the setting of the disc type.

Not to mention that the downloading of Swapmagic when you don't own a original copy is illegal....

As long as you have at least one store bought PS2 game in your possession then do this:

    1) Have FMCB installed. Configure it to skip disc boot. Read the tutorials to see how to do so.

    2) Have your PS2 modded so you can switch discs without the disc sensor resetting, which I assume you already did if you had Swap Magic at one point.

    3) Have uLaunchELF, which you should have if you have FMCB.

    4) Start your PS2 with your store bought game inside of it.

    5) Go to uLaunchELF and well, launch it. Let your PS2 sit for a couple of minutes. The disc will stop spinning.

    6) Take out your store bought game and put in your backup.

    7) Use the File Browser in uLaunchELF and navigate to cdfs.

    8) Access that, and look for a file named SLUS_XXXXX (the x's represent numbers). This is for NTSC/U games only. I'm not sure what it is for other regions.

    9) Highlight that file, and press either X or O depending on how your uLaunchELF is configured to run it.

    10) Your backup will boot and you can play.

Note: I've only done this with two of my games that I have backups of. The originals are unplayable due to structural damage on the discs. Both of said backups work just fine and I've had not a single issue with either of them. I don't know if this will work with every game.

Note 2: Obviously this isn't the most time efficient way to get things done, but I figure that it would be a decent measure to take until such time that you can get replacement Swap Magic discs.

Note 3: My PS2 is a slim model with v2.20 bios. I don't know if you can do this with 2.30 bios. I'm fairly certain that it's not possible to do so seeing as FMCB won't work with bios version 2.30, so check your PS2 before trying to do all of this.

One final thing: Please don't do this to play pirated copies of games. I assume your backups are all of store bought games that you want to use instead of the originals to protect them from degradation.
