    about modding ps2

    Postby ma3oony » Sun Aug 19, 2012 1:44 am
i wanna buy scph-90004 CB , but the problem with mod chips, they're too many but in my place usually we use M7 , but i dont know if it's only 1 model or there are a lot of M7 mod chips.

i asked one famous shop at my place which they already selling ps2 modded with M7 at their workshop in person, and told me it's the best available but if i played ps1 games i would damage the lens by making it weaker.

so what's ur suggestions ? is there something wrong with their claims, or M7 just not the best one out there? what's the best ? i thought it was super7 or matrix infinity but idk if some shops are still using it or no.

non modded ps2 90004 is bout $105 , with M7 it will cost around $120.
i thought of buying non modded ps2 and order swap magic and tools which will costs me around $40 , and saving the ps2 system from any damages because of the modification.
but is it favorable here ?
will i be able to extend the ps2 life by this method more than what would be with mod chip ? or either way it'd weakling my ps2 system anytime in the future?

hope i made my points clearly and if some is still not understandable, tell me so i'd try to explain it in other ways

    looking for reply
    regards

modchip is your only choice with 900xx consoles. my advice is to get a fat console, network adapter and internal hdd with freemcboot.

i've fat one, but i think it's on its limit , fcmb+hdd is costly as i'm planning to play my original game copies , but it wont harm as i may need to play some backups later on

you can dump your originals to the hdd too. loading times will be much shorter and you have the option to use vmc in opl, which automatically enables you to save forever...
